Royal Canadian Mint

The same leaf, in silver since 1988.

Side with the maple leaf, CANADA above it and the weight and fineness in English and French along the rimSide with the portrait of King Charles III and the face value and year below it

You are looking at the side with the maple leaf.

The maple leaf was designed by the engraver Walter Ott for the first Gold Maple Leaf of 1979. According to the Royal Canadian Mint, it has remained unchanged ever since.

At its launch, the Silver Maple Leaf was, according to the Mint, the world’s first bullion coin made of 99.99 per cent silver.

9999

This is how it appears beside the leaf: 99.99 per cent fine silver.

What lies in the details

The small laser leaf, enlarged from the product photo. The number at its centre only shows under stronger magnification.

Below the large leaf sits a small maple leaf, micro-engraved by laser. At its centre is the number 26 for the year of issue, visible only under magnification.

Every die bears this mark. The Mint captures it under a microscope and stores it in encrypted form. A verification device later reads it like a fingerprint and matches the coin to its die.

The fine lines in the field are machined on the master tooling to micrometre precision, so that they turn out the same on every coin. The width and spacing of the lines create a pattern that refracts the light and is characteristic of this coin.

A leaf through the decades

  1. 1908

    A home in Ottawa

The Mint in Ottawa is ready in November 1907. Its head, James Bonar, nevertheless waits until the security fence is in place. Striking therefore only begins on 2 January 1908.

  2. 1965

    The leaf on the flag

On 15 February, Canada’s new national flag with the maple leaf is raised on Parliament Hill for the first time. Maple leaves have appeared on Canadian cent coins ever since the 1850s.

  3. 2018

    MINTSHIELD

Since the 2018 issue, every Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin has had an invisible surface protection. According to the Mint, it reduces the occurrence of white spots and alters neither purity nor composition.

  4. 2024

    A new portrait

Since the 2024 issue, the Maple Leaf bullion coins have borne the effigy of King Charles III.

The motif

Leaf and portrait

The sugar maple
Its sap is particularly rich in sugar, which is why maple syrup producers value it.
Two languages
CANADA appears above the leaf. Along the rim, the weight and purity are given in English and French: FINE SILVER and ARGENT PUR.
King Charles III
The portrait was created by Steven Rosati of Montreal. The Mint had invited more than 350 artists for the task.
Facing left
Elizabeth II faced right, the King faces left: by long-standing tradition, the direction of the gaze changes with each monarch.

A country has placed the maple leaf on its flag.

You hold it in silver.

Since 1996, the maple has also been Canada’s national arboreal emblem. Ten species of maple are native to the country, and one of their leaves accompanies you with this coin.

Issuing country: Canada. Since 1969, the Royal Canadian Mint has been a Crown Corporation wholly owned by the Government of Canada.

The Silver Maple Leaf from the Royal Canadian Mint is not without reason one of the most popular bullion coins in the world. Each of the 75 coins bears the iconic maple leaf design that has fascinated investors and collectors alike since 1988.

"In times of economic uncertainty, it is the small denominations that make the difference. They can be discreetly carried in your wallet while travelling, without attracting attention."

Why This Package Represents Your Perfect Crisis Protection

Choosing the right denomination can be crucial in times of crisis. With 75 individual ounces, you have the flexibility you need. Whether as a means of exchange in various emergency situations at home or abroad – these coins offer you maximum freedom of action. The transparent coin tubes with their distinctive yellow lids not only protect against damage. They also allow for a quick overview of your holdings.

Industrial Demand Meets Limited Availability

What makes silver so special? It is not just a shiny metal with a millennia-old history as a currency. Modern industry literally devours silver – from electronics to solar technology to medical technology. This steadily growing demand meets a limited supply. A constellation that long-term thinking investors know how to appreciate!

  1. High liquidity enables sale at fair market prices at any time
  2. Perfect complement to gold for a balanced precious metals portfolio
  3. Physical ownership means no counterparty risks
  4. Generational wealth preservation for your family

The Details That Make the Difference

Each coin measures exactly 38 mm in diameter and weighs precisely one troy ounce (31.1035 grams). The satin finish gives the maple leaf a special depth. The inscription "CANADA" sits majestically above the leaf, flanked by the purity designation "9999". At the lower edge you will find the bilingual weight specification "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR" – a testament to the international acceptance of this coin.

Making Smart Use of Tax Advantages

Did you know that gains from the sale of silver are completely tax-free after a holding period of just one year? This makes this investor package an intelligent building block for your inflation hedge and retirement planning. While paper money gradually loses its value through inflation, silver retains its intrinsic value.

"Silver is the currency of the people – affordable, divisible, and proven over millennia. It has outlasted every paper currency and will continue to do so in the future."

Your Investment in a Secure Future

With this 75-coin package of Silver Maple Leaf 2026, you are not only securing 2,332.50 grams of pure silver. You are investing in flexibility, security, and long-term wealth preservation. The practical coin tubes make storage effortless – whether in your home safe or a bank safety deposit box.

Remember: in uncertain times, it is real tangible assets that endure. Silver served our ancestors as a reliable means of payment and will continue to fulfil its role as crisis protection and inflation hedge in the future. With the Canadian Maple Leaf, you are placing your trust in one of the most recognised and liquid coins on the world market. A decision you will not regret!
