Royal Canadian Mint

The same leaf, in silver since 1988.

You are looking at the side with the maple leaf.

The maple leaf was designed by the engraver Walter Ott for the first Gold Maple Leaf of 1979. According to the Royal Canadian Mint, it has remained unchanged ever since.

At its launch, the Silver Maple Leaf was, according to the Mint, the world’s first bullion coin made of 99.99 per cent silver.

9999

This is how it appears beside the leaf: 99.99 per cent fine silver.

What lies in the details

The small laser leaf, enlarged from the product photo. The number at its centre only shows under stronger magnification.

Below the large leaf sits a small maple leaf, micro-engraved by laser. At its centre is the number 26 for the year of issue, visible only under magnification.

Every die bears this mark. The Mint captures it under a microscope and stores it in encrypted form. A verification device later reads it like a fingerprint and matches the coin to its die.

The fine lines in the field are machined on the master tooling to micrometre precision, so that they turn out the same on every coin. The width and spacing of the lines create a pattern that refracts the light and is characteristic of this coin.

A leaf through the decades

  1. 1908

    A home in Ottawa

The Mint in Ottawa is ready in November 1907. Its head, James Bonar, nevertheless waits until the security fence is in place. Striking therefore only begins on 2 January 1908.

  2. 1965

    The leaf on the flag

On 15 February, Canada’s new national flag with the maple leaf is raised on Parliament Hill for the first time. Maple leaves have appeared on Canadian cent coins ever since the 1850s.

  3. 2018

    MINTSHIELD

Since the 2018 issue, every Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin has had an invisible surface protection. According to the Mint, it reduces the occurrence of white spots and alters neither purity nor composition.

  4. 2024

    A new portrait

Since the 2024 issue, the Maple Leaf bullion coins have borne the effigy of King Charles III.

The sugar maple
Its sap is particularly rich in sugar, which is why maple syrup producers value it.
Two languages
CANADA appears above the leaf. Along the rim, the weight and purity are given in English and French: FINE SILVER and ARGENT PUR.
King Charles III
The portrait was created by Steven Rosati of Montreal. The Mint had invited more than 350 artists for the task.
Facing left
Elizabeth II faced right, the King faces left: by long-standing tradition, the direction of the gaze changes with each monarch.

A country has placed the maple leaf on its flag.

Since 1996, the maple has also been Canada’s national arboreal emblem. Ten species of maple are native to the country, and one of their leaves accompanies you with this coin.

Why the Silver Maple Leaf Enriches Your Portfolio

In times of economic uncertainty, savvy investors seek stable assets. The Maple Leaf combines several advantages: as a physical precious metal, it offers genuine inflation hedge protection while also serving as reliable crisis protection. While paper currencies come and go, silver retains its intrinsic value – a quality that has made it a preferred investment for thousands of years.

Industrial Demand Is Exploding

Particularly exciting: industry is literally devouring silver! Whether in electronics, solar technology or medicine – the white metal is urgently needed everywhere. This steadily growing demand meets limited supply. A scenario that electrifies long-term-minded investors.

  1. High liquidity: Silver coins can be traded effortlessly worldwide
  2. Perfect denomination: At one ounce, ideal for flexible investment strategies
  3. Generational wealth: Physical silver outlasts economic crises and currency reforms
  4. Collector's joy: Yearly changing designs make every issue unique

Your Investment in Real Value

Delivered in a protective coin capsule, the Maple Leaf 2026 represents more than just 31.10 grams of fine silver. It is a statement for sustainable wealth management. While digital assets fluctuate wildly, your silver rests securely in your hands – tangible, enduring, valuable.

Comparing the Maple Leaf to other bullion coins, its exceptional purity particularly stands out. While many competing products feature "only" a fineness of 999/1,000, this Canadian beauty shines with four nines. This minimal difference makes a significant quality distinction in practice.

The Perfect Time Is Now

Silver has always served as a hedge against political turbulence and economic upheaval. In a world of growing uncertainty, the Maple Leaf 2026 offers exactly the stability that forward-thinking investors seek. With a face value of 5 Canadian dollars, it is also official legal tender – further evidence of its credibility and lasting value.

Secure a piece of Canadian minting artistry with the Silver Maple Leaf 2026 and invest in a future built on solid values. Because while trends come and go, the shine of silver endures – today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
