Royal Canadian Mint

A leaf, unchanged since 1979.

Side with the maple leaf, CANADA above it and the weight and fineness in English and French along the rimSide with the portrait of King Charles III and the face value and year below it

You are looking at the side with the maple leaf.

The maple leaf was designed by the engraver Walter Ott for the first Gold Maple Leaf of 1979. According to the Royal Canadian Mint, it has remained unchanged ever since.

The Gold Maple Leaf was intended as a three-year trial. It was so successful that in 1981 the Canadian Parliament decided to issue it permanently.

9999

This is how it appears beside the leaf: 99.99 per cent fine gold. In 1982, according to the Mint, the Gold Maple Leaf was the world’s first bullion coin of this purity.

What lies in the details

The small laser leaf, enlarged from the product photo. The number at its centre only shows under stronger magnification.

Below the large leaf sits a small maple leaf, micro-engraved by laser. At its centre is the number 26 for the year of issue, visible only under magnification.

Every die bears this mark. The Mint captures it under a microscope and stores it in encrypted form. A verification device later reads it like a fingerprint and matches the coin to its die.

The fine lines in the field are machined on the master tooling to micrometre precision, so that they turn out the same on every coin. The width and spacing of the lines create a pattern that refracts the light and is characteristic of this coin.

A leaf through the decades

  1. 1908

    A home in Ottawa

The Mint in Ottawa is ready in November 1907. Its head, James Bonar, nevertheless waits until the security fence is in place. Striking therefore only begins on 2 January 1908.

  2. 1965

    The leaf on the flag

On 15 February, Canada’s new national flag with the maple leaf is raised on Parliament Hill for the first time. Maple leaves have appeared on Canadian cent coins ever since the 1850s.

  3. 1988

    The Silver Maple Leaf

It joins the gold coin. According to the Mint, it is the world’s first bullion coin made of 99.99 per cent silver.

  4. 2007

    Five nines

The Mint issues its first bullion coin made of 99.999 per cent gold.

  5. 2024

    A new portrait

Since the 2024 issue, the Maple Leaf bullion coins have borne the effigy of King Charles III.

Since 1996, the maple has also been Canada’s national arboreal emblem. Ten species of maple are native to the country, and one of their leaves accompanies you with this coin.

Why the Maple Leaf 2026 will revolutionize your portfolio

With an impressive fineness of 999.9/1,000, this Canadian beauty ranks among the purest gold coins you can acquire anywhere in the world. This is no coincidence – it is the result of decades of minting craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology. While other coins come with lower purity, here you receive virtually pure gold in your hand.

"Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has never had a value of zero – unlike every paper currency that has ever existed."

Like no other coin, the Maple Leaf stands for stability in turbulent times. Remember: while fiat currencies come and go, gold has been shining for over 6,000 years. It is the money of God, as many say – imperishable, indestructible and universally recognized.

A masterpiece of Canadian minting art

The iconic maple leaf design is more than just a pretty motif. It symbolizes Canada's pristine nature and stands for permanence through every season.

Why invest in the Maple Leaf 2026 right now?

The signs point to stormy weather. Inflation is eroding purchasing power, geopolitical tensions are rising, and confidence in paper money is fading. It's no coincidence that the world's largest gold holders are the central banks themselves – a clear signal that even the guardians of fiat money no longer trust their own product.

Gold, on the other hand, knows no borders, no political systems and no currency reforms. It is the ultimate medium of exchange in times of crisis and your insurance against the gradual erosion of wealth.

The perfect addition to your precious metals portfolio

Whether you're already a proud owner of Krugerrand, American Eagle or Vienna Philharmonic coins – the Maple Leaf 2026 adds another dimension to your portfolio. Its exceptional purity makes it particularly popular in Asian markets, which means additional potential for value appreciation.

With a face value of 50 Canadian dollars, it is also official legal tender in Canada – even though its actual gold value exceeds this amount many times over. This dual security makes the Maple Leaf a unique investment.

"In times of uncertainty, gold is the rock in the storm – unchanging, enduring and valuable since the dawn of civilization."

Your retirement provision in shining gold

Gold is not just an investment – it is a legacy you can pass on to your children and grandchildren.

The compact size of 31.10 grams makes this ounce an ideal building block for securing your wealth. Small enough for discreet storage, large enough for substantial value preservation. And best of all: unlike digital assets, you can hold your gold in your hand at any time – a priceless feeling of security in uncertain times.

Secure your Maple Leaf 2026 now and become part of a thousands-year-old tradition of value preservation. Because while paper money comes and goes, gold remains forever.
