From Hadrian to Charles III

  1. around119

    On Roman coins

Under Emperor Hadrian, Britannia appears on a coin for the first time: a woman on rocks, with a spear and a shield, and below her the word BRITANNIA.

  2. 1672

    Back on English coins

She returns on England’s first official copper coins, the halfpenny and the farthing, under Charles II. Tradition has it that Frances Stuart, a lady of the court, sat as her model.

  3. 1997

    The Britannia in silver

Ten years after the gold Britannia comes the silver one, with 958 parts per thousand of silver until 2012. As early as 1697, England had prescribed exactly this fineness for silverware, which was hallmarked with a seated Britannia.

  4. 2013

    In fine silver

Since then, the silver Britannia has been struck in fine silver.

  5. 2023

    The King’s portrait

According to The Royal Mint, the 2023 Britannia is the world’s first bullion coin to bear the official portrait of King Charles III. The sculptor Martin Jennings called it his smallest work.

The Royal Mint in Wales

Since 1975, The Royal Mint has struck coins only in Llantrisant in South Wales. Queen Elizabeth II had opened the first phase of the site on 17 December 1968.

By its own account, it looks back on a history of more than 1,100 years.

1282 Trial of the Pyx

Since at least 1282, the coins of The Royal Mint have been tested independently. Today a jury at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London checks that weight and fineness are correct, according to The Royal Mint for the Britannia as well.

“Steadfast in the eye of the storm.”

This is how The Royal Mint describes its Britannia.

In fine silver.

  • fineness 999
  • 16.5 mm

The Iconic Britannia – A Symbol of British Strength

What makes the Silver Britannia so special? The answer lies in its breathtaking design. On the obverse, the eponymous Britannia reigns in full splendour. Robed in flowing garments, she stands steadfast upon the waves of the sea, the mighty trident firmly in hand. Her Corinthian helmet and Union Jack shield symbolise strength and indomitability. The fine lines in the background create a fascinating radiant halo that truly brings the figure to life.

Britannia has embodied the indomitable spirit of Great Britain for centuries – now immortalised in the purest silver for your collection.

King Charles III on the Face Value Side

The reverse of this remarkable coin features the official portrait of King Charles III in profile. The inscription "CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 20 PENCE" frames the royal likeness with dignity. This minting makes each individual coin a piece of living history – a numismatic document of the new era of the British Royal Family.

Why This Bundle Is a Smart Decision

The 1/10 ounce denomination offers decisive advantages over larger units. Smaller coins can be traded more flexibly and are ideally suited as a medium of exchange in uncertain times. Especially when currencies fluctuate, the true value of physical silver becomes apparent.

  1. High liquidity thanks to a convenient denomination
  2. Tax-free gains after a one-year holding period
  3. Portfolio diversification through precious metals
  4. Protection against loss of purchasing power and economic turbulence
  5. Cross-generational wealth preservation

Technical Perfection from the Royal Mint

Each individual coin measures exactly 16.50 mm in diameter and weighs precisely 3.11 grams. The fineness of 999/1,000 guarantees the highest purity. The face value of 20 pence underscores its official status as legal tender in Great Britain – even though the actual material value naturally far exceeds this nominal value.

Silver – The Underestimated Precious Metal with a Future

While gold often takes centre stage, silver is quietly and steadily becoming the secret star among precious metals. Industrial demand is growing relentlessly. Electronics, solar technology, medicine – the versatile metal is needed everywhere. This fundamental demand supports its value over the long term.

At the same time, supply remains limited. Silver cannot be multiplied at will like paper money. This natural scarcity makes it a reliable store of value. For thousands of years, people have trusted in the enduring purchasing power of this noble metal.

Practical Storage Included

The 16 coins are delivered securely packaged in a sturdy coin tube. This protects your investment from scratches and environmental influences. Stackable and space-saving – building wealth has never been more enjoyable. The Brilliant Uncirculated condition guarantees flawless surfaces and razor-sharp details.

Secure this attractive bundle now and lay the foundation for your personal precious metals collection. The Britannia 2026 combines British tradition with timeless value stability – an investment that endures for generations.
