The series

One animal a year since 1996

In 1996 The Perth Mint became the first mint to release an Australian lunar programme, as it states. Each series follows the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac: Lunar I from 1996 to 2007, Lunar II from 2008 to 2019, Lunar III from 2020 to 2031.

Each year one animal is added, and the snake, the horse and the goat each have separate designs for gold and silver. The snake is the sixth animal of Lunar III, the horse the seventh, the goat the eighth.

Since the snake of 2025, the effigy side has shown King Charles III, portrayed by Dan Thorne.

The mint

The P of Perth

The Perth Mint was founded in a gold rush. In 1892 a find near Coolgardie set off Australia’s second great gold rush of the 19th century. Premier Sir John Forrest did not want the gold to leave Western Australia for processing and secured a branch of the Royal Mint in Perth.

On 20 June 1899 the first gold was processed and struck there, and The Perth Mint has operated continuously on the same site in East Perth ever since. The sovereigns from Perth carried a small P above the date.

The designs of the snake, the horse and the goat also bear a P, as The Perth Mint’s mintmark. Today it is owned by the State of Western Australia.

The finish

The bullion coin in silver

The silver bullion coin bears the same design in every size. It is legal tender in Australia.

The design contains a micro-engraved mark intended to make counterfeiting harder. It can only be made out with a magnifying glass.

The kilogram coin measures at most 100.90 millimetres in diameter and bears the same design as the ounce.

Exclusive Lunar Series with Tradition and Appreciation Potential

The Silver Lunar Series is among the most sought-after coin series worldwide. Year after year, demand for these limited mintages continues to grow. The third generation of this legendary series sets new standards in terms of detail and artistic design. The Year of the Horse 2026 promises to be particularly popular – after all, the horse symbolises success, ambition and unbridled vitality in Chinese astrology.

"Silver is the gold of the common man – yet in this imposing 1 kg format, it reveals its true stature as a serious wealth investment."

Why This Silver Coin Enriches Your Portfolio

With a full kilogram of pure silver, you hold genuine, tangible value in your hands. While paper money gradually loses purchasing power through inflation, physical silver preserves its intrinsic value. Industrial demand for the precious metal is continuously rising – particularly in future technologies such as solar energy and electric mobility, silver is indispensable. This fundamental demand forms a solid foundation for long-term value stability.

The Brilliant Uncirculated coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule, ensuring the immaculate surface is permanently preserved. The highly detailed horse design on the obverse depicts a mare and her foal in full motion – a masterpiece of the engraver's art. The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III., lending the coin additional numismatic significance.

Tax-Free Gains and Crisis-Proof Investment

A decisive advantage: after just one year of holding, your profits from the sale of these silver coins are completely tax-free! This makes this form of investment particularly attractive for forward-thinking investors. In times of economic uncertainty, physical silver serves as a proven crisis protection. It retains its value independently of stock market crashes or currency turbulence.

Technical Perfection Meets Emotional Value

The technical specifications speak for themselves: with a face value of 30 Australian dollars, this coin is legal tender. However, the actual material value exceeds the face value many times over. The high liquidity of silver coins enables you to sell your investment at any time and anywhere in the world.

  1. Perfect diversification for your wealth
  2. Protection against creeping currency devaluation
  3. Physical ownership without counterparty risk
  4. Cross-generational value preservation
  5. Worldwide acceptance and tradability

Limited Mintage Secures Collector's Value

The Lunar Series is renowned for its strictly limited mintages. Experience shows that the larger denominations sell out particularly quickly. Those who act too late often have to pay considerable premiums on the secondary market. The combination of limited availability, the highest minting quality and the fascination of the Lunar calendar makes this coin a coveted collector's item with appreciation potential.

Secure your example of this extraordinary bullion coin now! With the 1 kg Silver Lunar III Horse 2026, you are investing not only in a kilogram of the purest silver, but in a piece of coin history that will endure for generations. The union of artistic perfection, numismatic value and solid precious metal content makes this coin the ideal addition to any well-considered investment portfolio.
