The emblem
Two names in one circle

Argor-Heraeus bars bear a circle with the legend ARGOR HERAEUS SA and the letters AH at its centre. Below it is the word Switzerland.
Further down is the assayer’s mark with AH and MELTER ASSAYER, the one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. In Switzerland, every cast or minted bar must bear such an assayer’s mark.
From Chiasso to Mendrisio
1951
Argento and oro
In Ticino, Emilio Weiss and Elvio Zoppi found Argor SA, a precious metals foundry. The name combines argento and oro, the Italian words for silver and gold.
1986
Argor-Heraeus
The Heraeus Group takes a stake alongside UBS, and Argor becomes Argor-Heraeus. The plant in Chiasso has grown too small, and the first decision of the new board of directors is a new one in Mendrisio. It opens two years later.

The signature on the card

In our product photos, the red card shows the weight and the fineness and, under Certified Assayer, the signature Marsan.
Alessandro Ruffoni had been a sworn assayer at Argor-Heraeus since 1991, licensed by the Swiss Central Office for Precious Metals Control. His signature appeared on the certificates of bars from Argor-Heraeus and from Heraeus. After his retirement in 2023, it was gradually replaced by that of Simone Marsan.

There are moments when aesthetics and substance unite in a way that is simply thrilling. The 10g Gold Argor Heraeus "Year of the Horse 2026" is exactly such a piece. Crafted in Switzerland by one of the world's most renowned precious metal processors, this 10g gold bar combines the finest minting artistry with the timeless value of 999.9 fine gold. And the best part: it is limited to just 18,888 pieces – a number considered particularly auspicious in Chinese culture.
A design that radiates power and elegance
The obverse of the bar depicts a majestically rearing horse, framed by traditional Chinese lanterns and delicate cherry blossoms. The Chinese character 馬 (horse) adorns the lower part of the design. The depiction is breathtakingly detailed – every strand of the horse's mane, every muscle, has been minted into the gold with the utmost care. In the Chinese zodiac, the horse represents energy, freedom, and tireless drive – values that may well apply to astute investors too.
The reverse presents a classic, elegant design: the well-known Argor-Heraeus logo sits above the details of weight (10g), fineness (Fine Gold 999.9), and the individual serial number. The melter-assayer seal guarantees authenticity. The bar is embedded in a vibrant red blister pack adorned with golden firework ornaments – a visual feast that immediately catches the eye.
Why this bar in particular as inflation hedge?
While paper money can be multiplied at will by central banks – and thus steadily loses purchasing power – gold remains a scarce commodity. For over 6,000 years, it has preserved its value. Not a single fiat currency can claim the same. Not one. Gold has never had a value of zero, and it never will, because it possesses an inherent, intrinsic value that exists independently of political decisions or monetary policy experiments.
"Gold is money. Everything else is credit." – J.P. Morgan, 1912
This quote has lost none of its relevance in 2026. On the contrary: the world's largest central banks are continuously increasing their gold reserves – a clear signal that even the guardians of fiat money only trust their own system to a limited extent.

Collector's heart meets investor strategy
What makes this bar so special is the dual nature of its value. On one hand, you own 10 grams of the purest gold – a commodity that is tradable worldwide, highly liquid, and can be converted into cash at any time. On the other hand, you hold a limited collector's item in your hands, whose mintage of only 18,888 pieces gives it an additional numismatic dimension. Experience shows that such limited editions can develop a premium over the pure material value over time.
Compared to classic, design-free gold bars of the same weight class, the "Year of the Horse" therefore offers a decisive advantage: it appeals both to the strategic investor and to the passionate collector. Anyone who prefers to rely solely on the gold price, however, will find an equally solid, if less spectacular, alternative in the standard bars from Argor Heraeus.
Convincing tax advantages
Gold is VAT-free in Germany – a tremendous advantage over silver or platinum. Furthermore: profits from the sale of gold bars are completely tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. This makes this bar not only an aesthetic pleasure, but also a tax-attractive building block for your long-term wealth protection and retirement planning.
A legacy that outlasts generations
Gold is durable. It does not corrode, it does not fade, it does not lose its physical properties – not even after centuries. This bar can be passed down from generation to generation, as a tangible symbol of foresight and financial wisdom. Even the ancient Egyptians recognized the incomparable value of this precious metal. And while countless currencies, empires, and economic systems have come and gone, gold has remained constant.
