The emblem
Two names in one circle

Argor-Heraeus bars bear a circle with the legend ARGOR HERAEUS SA and the letters AH at its centre. Below it is the word Switzerland.
Further down is the assayer’s mark with AH and MELTER ASSAYER, the one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. In Switzerland, every cast or minted bar must bear such an assayer’s mark.
From Chiasso to Mendrisio
1951
Argento and oro
In Ticino, Emilio Weiss and Elvio Zoppi found Argor SA, a precious metals foundry. The name combines argento and oro, the Italian words for silver and gold.
1986
Argor-Heraeus
The Heraeus Group takes a stake alongside UBS, and Argor becomes Argor-Heraeus. The plant in Chiasso has grown too small, and the first decision of the new board of directors is a new one in Mendrisio. It opens two years later.

The signature on the card

In our product photos, the red card shows the weight and the fineness and, under Certified Assayer, the signature Marsan.
Alessandro Ruffoni had been a sworn assayer at Argor-Heraeus since 1991, licensed by the Swiss Central Office for Precious Metals Control. His signature appeared on the certificates of bars from Argor-Heraeus and from Heraeus. After his retirement in 2023, it was gradually replaced by that of Simone Marsan.

Why This Bar in Particular Protects Your Wealth
Inflation eats away. Silently, quietly, relentlessly. What is worth 100 euros today may only hold the purchasing power of 95 euros tomorrow. This is exactly where inflation hedging through physical gold comes into play. For over 6,000 years, gold has preserved its value – not a single paper currency can claim the same. While central banks around the world print money and inflate the money supply, the supply of gold naturally remains limited. This fundamental imbalance is the reason why gold has historically been especially sought after whenever confidence in fiat currencies has waned.
"Gold is money. Everything else is credit." – J.P. Morgan
And it is precisely this principle that makes the 5g Argor Heraeus bar so valuable. It can be purchased free of VAT, and profits from its sale generally remain tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. These are conditions that hardly any other form of investment can offer.
Collector's Heart Meets Investor's Mind
What sets this bar apart from a classic investment bar? The combination of limited mintage, cultural design, and Swiss precision. Collectors of Argor Heraeus's Lunar series know: these annual editions are highly sought after. Once the mintage of 18,888 pieces is sold out, there will be no re-minting. The horse – a symbol of energy, freedom, and success in the Chinese zodiac – gives the bar an emotional depth that goes far beyond its pure material value.
Compared to larger bar formats, the 5-gram format offers a decisive advantage: flexibility. Small units can be sold, exchanged, or gifted more easily. Anyone wishing to diversify their portfolio can react much more agilely with several small bars than with a single large piece. At the same time, the entry price remains manageable – ideal for anyone who wants to invest in gold on a regular basis.
Argor Heraeus: Swiss Quality Since 1951
Argor-Heraeus is one of the world's leading precious metal refineries and is LBMA-certified. Every bar that leaves the facility in Ticino stands for uncompromising purity and processing quality. The name alone is a seal of quality – recognized by banks, dealers, and investors around the globe.
Whether as a strategic building block of your personal retirement provision, as a gift of lasting value, or as a collector's item with potential – this 5g gold bar "Year of the Horse 2026" combines everything that makes a first-class precious metal product. Secure your piece before the limited mintage becomes history.
