The constellation in the sky

SUHUR-MASH-HA, the goat-fish.

That is what the Sumerians called the constellation. In Capricornus lies the globular cluster M30, visible with binoculars, best in October.

The path of the sun

Twelve sections of a year.

Capricorn is the tenth of the twelve sections.

Seen from the Earth, the sun travels once around the sky against the stars over the course of a year, along the ecliptic.

The signs divide this path into twelve equal sections of 30 degrees each, counted from the vernal equinox point, the position of the sun at the start of spring. The constellations of the same names differ in size.

Because the Earth’s axis slowly turns like a spinning top, once in about 26,000 years, the vernal equinox point has moved by about 30 degrees since the Greek Hipparchus. Signs and constellations are therefore offset today by about one constellation.

For more than 2,500 years

In cuneiform, in books, on clocks.

  1. BabylonThe cuneiform series MUL.APIN, preserved in copies from the 7th century BC onwards, names 17 constellations along the ecliptic.
  2. PtolemyAround AD 150, Ptolemy gathered more than a thousand stars into 48 constellations in the Almagest. At its core, our system today is his.
  3. Très Riches HeuresIn the book of hours of the Duke of Berry, now in Chantilly, each month’s picture shows the two zodiac signs of the month at the top.
  4. PragueThe astronomical clock has stood on the Old Town Hall since 1410, today with calendar, zodiac and clock.

The Obverse Design – Discipline and Success Cast in Silver

The obverse shows a masterfully crafted Capricorn climbing a steep rocky ledge with powerful movements. The dynamic climbing pose perfectly symbolizes the characteristics of this zodiac sign: endurance, determination, and indomitable will.

The Reverse – A Cosmic Masterpiece

No less impressive is the reverse of this silver coin rarity. At the center, the sun and moon merge into a harmonious unity – a timeless symbol for the duality of the universe. The four elements surround this central depiction in intricately designed quadrants:

  1. Clouds symbolize the element of Air
  2. Majestic mountains represent Earth
  3. Rolling waves embody Water
  4. Blazing flames stand for Fire

Along the outer rim, all twelve zodiac sign symbols line up in sequence. The inscription “TWELVE SIGNS • FOUR ELEMENTS • ONE UNIVERSE” sums up the cosmic message. The face value of 20 dollars and the inscription “9999 FINE SILVER 2026” along with the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia complete the design.

Technical Perfection in Proof Quality

With a fine weight of exactly 31.10 grams, this coin meets the international standard for 1-ounce mintages. The Proof quality guarantees mirror-polished surfaces and frosted reliefs – an interplay that perfectly showcases the three-dimensional effect of the high-relief minting.

Why This Coin Belongs in Your Collection

Silver has a thousands-of-years-old history as a store of value. It serves as an inflation hedge and offers crisis protection in uncertain times. But this collector's coin goes far beyond that. The combination of:

  • Highest silver purity (999.9/1,000)
  • A genuine diamond in the design
  • A strictly limited mintage of only 5,000 pieces
  • Exclusive production by Kettner Edelmetalle

makes it a sought-after collector's item with considerable value appreciation potential. Profits from the sale of silver are tax-free after a holding period of at least one year – another advantage for forward-thinking collectors.

This rare rarity is delivered securely packaged in a high-quality coin capsule, which protects the precious piece from damage. Whether as a gift for someone born under the zodiac sign of Capricorn or as the highlight of your own collection – this coin will delight you!
