Gold and silver on the NileThe Eye of Ra,1/200 ounce gold.

Eye of Ra, coin bar of 1/200 ounce gold, motif side

The eye stands among hieroglyphs, beside it the ankh and the arms of Liberia.

In ancient Egypt

Flesh and bones of the gods

To the Egyptians, gold and silver were more than metal: they could stand for the flesh and the bones of the gods, for the sun and the moon.

Gold was linked with the gods and the deified dead because it lasts; silver, for its pale colour, with the moon and with ritual purity.

The gold of the pharaohs

Gold from Nubia and the Eastern Desert

The Egyptian word for gold, nbw, is reflected in the ancient name of Nubia.

The gold of the pharaohs was mostly not refined and often held a great deal of silver. Pliny the Elder called a natural alloy of gold with more than 20 per cent silver electrum.

Gold leaf that could be just one micrometre thin was already made in ancient times. Gold was largely controlled by the king, and of the many statues of the temples only a single golden one is known to survive.

Coined money came late: until about the time of Alexander the Great, the Egyptian economy was based on goods.

The map of the gold mines

Around 1150 BC a map of the Wadi Hammamat was made for a quarrying expedition of Ramesses IV, one of the earliest known maps. According to the geologist James Harrell, it bears labels such as “hills where gold is found” and “hills of gold and silver”.

It is regarded as the oldest known geological map; the next known one only appears in the sources some 29 centuries later.

Silver and the moon

For long, silver was worth more than gold

Temple inscriptions from much of Egypt’s history point to this.

In the land of the pharaohs

Five faces of ancient Egypt

The pieces of this world show Tutankhamun, Nefertiti, Cleopatra, Hatshepsut and Ramesses II. Tutankhamun’s tomb was found largely intact.

Giza · wonder of the ancient world

Built for eternity

The Pyramid of Khufu is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Its ancient name was Akhet Khufu, “the Horizon of Khufu”.

Signs of the Nile

What the signs meant

The same signs return on the pieces of this world. This is how major museums describe their meaning in ancient Egypt.

  • Eye of Ra

    Eye of Ra

In the myth the Eye went away and only returned once wine, music and dance had calmed it; in this way the Egyptians explained the yearly journey of the sun to the south and back.

    On this piece

  • Ankh

    Ankh

As a hieroglyph the ankh wrote the words “live” and “life”; as a symbol it stood for life.

    On this piece

  • Wedjat eye

    Wedjat eye

“Wedjat” means “the one that is sound”: in the myth Seth injured or stole the eye of Horus, and Thoth restored it.

  • Scarab

    Scarab

Scarabs with the name and title of their owner often served as seals: their underside was pressed into a lump of clay.

  • Uraeus

The rearing cobra with its flared hood was worn on the forehead and was regarded as a sign of protection.

Minting and finish

Proof on 1/200 ounce

A proof finish sets finely frosted reliefs against a mirror-like field. For this the blanks are polished to a high shine and struck several times.

The bar is struck on one side, its back is polished plain.

The Eye of Ra Gold Minted Bar combines a millennia-old protective symbol with the most enduring value known to mankind: pure fine gold. Due to its tiny mintage, it ranks among the most sought-after issues in the collector's coin category – yet its true essence remains the precious metal it contains. Despite the mystical design, what you acquire here is full-value gold in minted form, whose value tracks the gold price. The design is the personal touch, the fine gold is the substance.

Why a Minted Bar Is More Than a Classic Bar

A minted bar is a gold bar that carries a coin stamp. At first glance it looks like a conventional bar, but the imprinted face value of 25 dollars gives it the status of a coin in Germany – and in Liberia, the country of issue, it is simultaneously legal tender. This special hybrid status makes such gold minted bars popular among investors who value small investment products with a clearly defined fineness. The technical specifications: fineness 999.9/1000, denomination 1/200 oz, fine weight 0.16 g, dimensions 15.00 x 8.50 mm, delivered in an elegant coin card.

The Eye of Ra – A Protective Symbol from Ancient Egypt

At the center of the bar rests the striking Udjat eye, framed by numerous hieroglyphs and delicate ornaments. For thousands of years it has stood for protection, healing and royal power – a design that fits perfectly with gold, which was already regarded in ancient Egypt as a unit of trade and a symbol of wealth and prestige. The design is complemented by the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia as well as the inscriptions "25 DOLLARS" and "9999 FINE GOLD". The result is a bar that tells a story while holding pure fine gold in your hand.

Proof (PP) Minting Quality

The minted bar is produced in the highest possible minting quality, Proof. Mirror-polished fields meet finely detailed design elements – a contrast that impressively showcases the depth of detail of the Eye of Horus. Together with the mintage of only 1,000 pieces, the elaborate Proof minting underscores the character of this rarity.

Gold as a Foundation – Value Preservation Across Generations

Gold is the world's oldest currency and has been a proven store of value for over 6,000 years. It has intrinsic value, has never been worth zero, and protects against loss of purchasing power – a reliable inflation hedge and equally effective crisis protection in uncertain times. It is no coincidence that central banks, the world's largest gold holders, keep enormous reserves. Physical gold is tradable worldwide, can be resold at any time, and is highly liquid. An additional advantage: after a holding period of at least one year, profits from the sale of physical gold are generally tax-free. Anyone who builds up investment gold in small steps can, over the years, form a considerable fortune – a value that can also be passed down through generations.

What Ra protects endures for millennia.

Whether as an entry point into physical gold investment or as a genuine investment to give as a gift – this minted bar combines mystical symbolism with tangible fine gold. The very low mintage and the resulting appreciation potential make it an extraordinary rarity. Secure your piece from this strictly limited edition while supplies last.
