Australia · Wedge-tailed Eagle

The eagle with the wedge-shaped tail

Its tail is long and wedge-shaped, its legs are feathered down to the toes.

It lives across the whole Australian mainland, on Tasmania and in southern New Guinea, from the coast to the mountains. Of the world’s large eagles it is the most common.

Its nest of dead branches is used for years; nests 1.8 metres wide, 3 metres deep and weighing about 400 kilograms are known.

✔ Australien – das Heimatland des Keilschwanzadlers 

Auf dem Motivseite der Silbermünze ist der Keilschwanzadler eingeprägt. Es ist nur der Kopf des Tieres abgebildet. Der Vogel schaut zur Seite. Sein Schnabel ist leicht geöffnet, als würde er gerade Kreischen und einen Feind in die Flucht schlagen wollen. Er scheint jedenfalls genervt und wütend zu sein. Bei dem Keilschwanzadler handelt es sich um eine in Australien beheimatete Vogelart. Australien ist aber nicht nur das Heimatland des Keilschwanzadlers, sondern auch das Herkunftsland der Münze. Die bekannte australische Prägestätte Perth Mint hat dem Keilschwanzadler zu Ehren eine Anlagemünze herausgebracht, die nach ihm benannt ist. Und diese Silbermünze ist eine Wedge Tailed Eagle Münze. Wedge Tailed Eagle ist die englische Bezeichnung für Keilschwanzadler. Der Name der Vogelart ist auch über dem Motiv eingeprägt. Unter dem Motiv stehen das Prägejahr (2022) der Münze, die Stückelung (2 Unze) sowie die Feinheit. Diese beträgt 99,99 Prozent. 

✔ Eine limitierte Sammlermünze mit besonderen Merkmalen 

Während die Wedge Tailed Eagle Münze üblicherweise eine Anlagemünze ist, ist diese Silbermünze mit ein paar besonderen Merkmalen ausgestattet, die sie von den anderen Wedge Tailed Eagle Münzen abhebt und zu einer limitierten Sammlermünze macht. Die Gesamtauflage dieser Münze ist auf 2.000 Exemplare begrenzt. Bei der Herstellung der Münze wurde die Reverse Proof Technik angewendet. Das bedeutet, dass das Motiv glänzt und der Hintergrund matt ist. Dadurch wird ein Kontrast erzielt. Des Weiteren wurde das Motiv im High Relief designt. Dadurch wirkt das Motiv einfach realistischer. Es hat den Effekt, dass der Vogel wirklich aus der Münze herauszukommen scheint. Einfach unglaublich. Ein weiteres Merkmal ist das Piedfort. Die Materialstärke der Münze ist doppelt so hoch verglichen mit anderen Münzen. Eine wirklich besondere Münze in vielen Hinsichten.

Auf der Wertseite ist das Bildnis des ehemaligen, bereits verstorbenen Staatsoberhauptes Australiens zu sehen: die britische Queen Elizabeth II. Auf der rechten Seite steht das Herkunftsland der Münze: Australien. Und unter dem Motiv ist der Nennwert von zwei australischen Dollar eingraviert.
