Münze Österreich

120 ounces of silver, coin by coin.

In February 2008, the Wiener Philharmoniker was also issued in silver, with the same design as in gold.

Coin tubes with silver Wiener Philharmoniker coins, a single coin in front of them

The organ in the Golden Hall

The organ, enlarged from a product photo.

One side of the coin shows the organ in the Great Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, often called the Golden Hall (Goldener Saal).

Its case forms a single whole with the hall, and the silent pipes of its façade still come from the first organ. Behind it today stands the hall’s fourth organ, the work of the Vorarlberg firm Rieger, in place since 2011. The first was presented in 1872, and Anton Bruckner improvised on it.

In the Golden Hall, the Wiener Philharmoniker play their New Year’s Concert.

Today it is broadcast to more than 150 countries. According to the orchestra, around 50 million people watch.

Each dot stands for a coin of one ounce of silver.

The instruments

The other side shows instruments of the orchestra the coin is named after. Above them are the words WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.

The design is the work of Thomas Pesendorfer, later chief engraver at Münze Österreich. It has remained the same since it was first struck, in gold, silver and platinum.

  1. The Vienna horn

Top left, with its coils and its wide, sweeping bell.

  2. The bassoon

Slender and standing tall, between the horn and the neck of the cello.

  3. The harp

Top right. Its strings reach down to the string instruments.

  4. The string instruments

In the centre, the cello, with two more string instruments on either side.

All details enlarged from a product photo.

The metal

SILBER beneath the lettering

On the silver coin, the word SILBER appears in small letters beneath WIENER PHILHARMONIKER, while the gold coin has no word there. The side with the organ reads 1 UNZE FEINSILBER.

From the Vienna Mint to the Philharmoniker

  1. 1194

    A ransom

According to tradition, the history of the Vienna Mint begins in this year, with the ransom for King Richard the Lionheart of England.

  2. 1835

    At the Heumarkt

The Hauptmünzamt am Heumarkt is built to plans by Paul Sprenger and completed in 1838. The Philharmoniker is still struck here today.

  3. 1989

    The first Philharmoniker

The Hauptmünzamt becomes Münze Österreich AG, a subsidiary of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. On 10 October, a Wiener Philharmoniker in gold is sold for the first time, initially as one ounce and as a quarter ounce.

  4. 2008

    In silver

In February, the Wiener Philharmoniker appears in silver, one ounce of fine silver at 999 parts per thousand.

On one side the organ, on the other the instruments.

In between, fine silver.

Münze Österreich has dedicated the Wiener Philharmoniker to music.

120 × 1 oz fine silver · fineness 999 · 37 mm · face value 1.50 euros

Fineness, diameter and face value per coin as stated by Münze Österreich.

"Silver is not just a precious metal – it is the currency of the wise, which our ancestors already valued as an enduring asset."

The unbeatable advantages of your silver investment

While paper money comes and goes, silver endures. With a holding period of just one year, your gains are completely tax-free – an invaluable advantage over many other forms of investment. But that's just the beginning:

  1. Industrial demand is exploding: From electronics to solar technology to medicine – silver is indispensable
  2. Limited resources: Natural reserves are finite, while demand continues to rise
  3. Perfect denomination: With 1-ounce coins, you stay flexible for any occasion
  4. Crisis-proof currency: In turbulent times, physical silver is your anchor
  5. Generational wealth: Pass on real value instead of numbers on paper

Technical perfection meets emotional value

With a diameter of exactly 37 mm and a thickness of 3.2 mm, each coin fits perfectly in the hand. The weight of 31.1035 grams per ounce – internationally standardized – makes it the ideal trading unit worldwide. The face value of 1.50 euros may sound modest, but the true value lies in the silver itself.

The Austrian Mint, one of the most renowned mints in Europe, guarantees the highest quality. Each coin leaves the mint in flawless, Brilliant Uncirculated condition – a quality promise that makes collectors' hearts beat faster.

Your retirement provision on a solid foundation

Think long term! While inflation erodes purchasing power, silver preserves its intrinsic value. History shows: in times of crisis, physical precious metal has always been in demand. With 120 ounces, you secure a substantial fortune that exists independently of banking systems and digital uncertainties.

High liquidity makes silver the perfect emergency reserve. Accepted worldwide, tradable at any time – that is true financial freedom. Particularly clever: the smaller denomination allows for flexible trading without having to move large assets all at once.

An investment that appeals to all the senses

Feel the weight of real value in your hands. Admire the matte shine of fine silver. Hear the characteristic jingle of real coins. This is no abstract investment – it is tangible wealth that will endure for generations.

With this 120-piece set of Vienna Philharmonic 2026 coins, you are not just investing in silver – you are investing in security, tradition, and the future all at once. A wise move for anyone who understands: in uncertain times, it is the eternal values that endure.
