The classic kangaroo
A kangaroo in a sunburst
The silver coin bears a fixed design which, according to The Perth Mint, is based on the kangaroo Stuart Devlin created for the Australian Nugget of 1989: a kangaroo in mid-leap, ringed by stylised rays of sunlight.

The name
Why it is called Nugget
The Welcome Stranger was found by the miner John Deason on 5 February 1869 near Moliagul in Victoria, three centimetres deep among the roots of a tree. He hid the find until dark and then dug it out with his partner Richard Oates. In Dunolly the nugget, then the largest known in the world, had to be broken up on an anvil so that it would fit on the bank’s scales, as Museums Victoria reports.
This nugget and three other famous ones appeared on the first years of the series, in designs by Stuart Devlin. It began as The Australian Nugget.
Then came the kangaroo, according to The Perth Mint an icon of Australia that is more easily recognised all over the world. Since 2008 it has listed the bullion coin as the Australian Kangaroo; we still call the series Kangaroo Nugget, after the name under which it began in 1986.

The series
One design since 2016
The silver bullion coin has kept its design since it first appeared in 2016: the classic kangaroo in a sunburst. On the gold bullion coins up to one ounce, the kangaroo changes every year.
There had been a kangaroo on gold in Australia before. In 1853 Reginald Scaife reached Melbourne aboard the clipper Kangaroo, as manager of a private mint, the Kangaroo Office. With purpose-made dies he struck 27 sets of gold tokens, from a quarter ounce to two ounces, dated 1853.

The finish
In tubes of 25
The Perth Mint supplies these silver coins in tubes of 25, each with a seal that shows if it has been opened.
Each coin is a silver bullion coin with a fineness of 99.99 per cent, legal tender in Australia.
The obverse shows King Charles III in the portrait by Dan Thorne. The Perth Mint’s first coin with this portrait was a kangaroo coin, released on 15 January 2024.

Industrial demand meets limited availability
Silver is not just a shining precious metal – it is the engine of modern industry! From electronics to solar technology to medicine: demand for silver continues to rise. At the same time, natural deposits are limited. This combination of rising demand and scarce supply makes silver one of the most exciting investments of our time. As an inflation hedge, the white metal has proven itself over centuries.
Your wealth in safe hands – for generations
These 150 silver coins are more than just an investment – they are a legacy. While paper money comes and goes, physical silver retains its value. It doesn't rust, it doesn't decay, it doesn't lose its properties. What you acquire today, your grandchildren can still hold in their hands in the very same quality. The Perth Mint stands behind its name with the highest minting craftsmanship and international recognition.
Particularly impressive: with a fineness of 999.9/1,000, these coins are among the purest silver investments in the world. Each tube contains 25 coins – so in total you receive 6 sealed original tubes straight from the mint. The transparent tubes with their distinctive blue-green sealing caps protect your investment optimally from environmental influences.
"In times of economic uncertainty, physical silver is the rock in the storm – stable, valuable and always in demand."
Why now is exactly the right time
History teaches us: in every crisis, precious metals have proven to be safe havens. While currencies lose purchasing power, the value of silver often rises disproportionately. Whether as a medium of exchange in extreme situations, as value preservation amid galloping inflation, or as long-term retirement provision: these coins meet all the requirements of a crisis-proof investment.
The Australian Kangaroo series has been a perennial favorite among investors and collectors since its introduction. Secure your crisis preparedness package now and sleep more soundly knowing that no matter what happens, you have made provisions!
