The 40 in the design is a privy mark for the 40th anniversary of the Australian Nugget. The gold coin was approved on 8 August 1985, and its first issue appeared at the end of 1986.

The name
Why it is called Nugget
The Welcome Stranger was found by the miner John Deason on 5 February 1869 near Moliagul in Victoria, three centimetres deep among the roots of a tree. He hid the find until dark and then dug it out with his partner Richard Oates. In Dunolly the nugget, then the largest known in the world, had to be broken up on an anvil so that it would fit on the bank’s scales, as Museums Victoria reports.
This nugget and three other famous ones appeared on the first years of the series, in designs by Stuart Devlin. It began as The Australian Nugget.
Then came the kangaroo, according to The Perth Mint an icon of Australia that is more easily recognised all over the world. Since 2008 it has listed the bullion coin as the Australian Kangaroo; we still call the series Kangaroo Nugget, after the name under which it began in 1986.

The series
A new kangaroo every year
The gold bullion coins up to one ounce receive a new kangaroo every year. In the early years even the species changed, from the red kangaroo in 1990 to the whiptail wallaby in 1994.
There had been a kangaroo on gold in Australia before. In 1853 Reginald Scaife reached Melbourne aboard the clipper Kangaroo, as manager of a private mint, the Kangaroo Office. With purpose-made dies he struck 27 sets of gold tokens, from a quarter ounce to two ounces, dated 1853.

Imagine holding a coin that not only shines like the Australian sun but also protects your wealth in uncertain times. The 1/10 oz Gold Kangaroo Nugget 2026 is exactly that: a compact vault for your financial security that easily fits into any wallet.
Small Denomination, Great Security
With a diameter of just 16 mm, this gold coin is a true powerhouse in miniature format. The small denomination of 1/10 ounce makes it the perfect medium of exchange in times of crisis. While larger gold bars are difficult to divide, this coin offers you maximum flexibility. You can discreetly carry several of them in your wallet - while traveling, in everyday life, or for emergencies.
"Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has never had a value of zero. It is God's money and has shone unabated for over 6,000 years."
Why This Particular Coin Is Your Perfect Companion
The Perth Mint has once again set standards with this minting. The two leaping kangaroos symbolize not only the Australian wilderness but also the leap into a secure financial future. With a limited mintage of only 200,000 pieces worldwide, this coin is not only crisis protection but also a sought-after collector's item.
The fineness of 999.9/1,000 guarantees you purest gold - a material that even the largest central banks in the world hold as an ultimate reserve. Interestingly, this shows that even the creators of paper money do not fully trust their own product.
Your Advantages at a Glance
- Tax-free gains: After just one year of holding, your gains are completely tax-free
- VAT-exempt: Buy gold without the usual 19% VAT
- Worldwide acceptance: Recognized as a means of payment in every country on earth
- Inflation hedge: While paper money loses purchasing power, gold retains its value
- Crisis security: Perfect for various emergency situations at home or abroad
A Look at the Details Makes the Difference
The obverse shows a powerfully leaping kangaroo with its offspring - a symbol of strength and securing the future. The detailed minting reveals every hair of the marsupial. The design is framed by the inscription "KANGAROO" and the year 2026. The reverse features the dignified portrait of King Charles III, which lends the coin additional numismatic significance.
With a face value of 15 AUD, this coin is official legal tender in Australia - yet its true value naturally lies in its gold content of exactly 3.11 grams of fine gold.
Comparison with Other Bullion Coins
Compared to larger gold coins such as the 1 ounce variant, the 1/10 ounce offers decisive advantages for inflation hedging: it is more affordable to purchase, more flexible to sell, and ideal for gradual wealth building. While silver is considered the "little brother" of gold, gold offers higher value density - perfect for the discreet transport of larger assets.
Your Investment in the Future
This coin combines all the qualities you would want from a crisis preparedness product: small denominations for maximum flexibility, the highest purity for worldwide acceptance, and the security of a renowned mint. The practical coin capsule protects your investment from scratches and preserves its flawless condition.
Remember: gold has a low correlation to other asset classes and has served as the ultimate store of value for millennia. While currencies come and go, gold endures. It is not a promise from a government or bank, but a physical asset in your hand.
"In times of economic uncertainty, gold is the rock in the storm. It protects against loss of purchasing power and provides security when confidence in paper money wanes."
Secure your 1/10 oz Gold Kangaroo Nugget 2026 today and become part of a millennia-old tradition of wealth protection. This small but exquisite coin is your personal bodyguard for uncertain times - always with you, always valuable, always gold.
