Molten gold flows from the crucible into an ingot mould

Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim

Gold from the Golden City.

It began with the dust of the workshops.

Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.

The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.

1845

This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.

Inside the works

From scrap to bar.

  1. Old silver, coins and pieces of jewellery slide from a shovel into a glowing crucible

    The scrap

Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

  2. A melter pours molten metal from the crucible, sparks flying

    The pour

Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

  3. Gold and silver bars by Heimerle + Meule on slate

    The bar

At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.

A house that carries on.

  1. 1945

    In ruins

On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.

  2. 1977

    The Brötzinger Tal

The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.

  3. 2010

    Bars for investors

Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.

  4. 2014

    Good Delivery

On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

200 x 0.5g Gold Bars Heimerle und Meule (Kettner Edelmetalle)

Kettner Edelmetalle Edition

Bars by Heimerle + Meule.

The bars in this edition bear the mark of Heimerle + Meule, and our name is on the packaging.

On the bar

What the marks say.

999.9
The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
1845
The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
melter assayer
The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
HEIMERLE + MEULE
The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.

From dust came a name.

Made to last.

The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

200 x 0.5 g Gold Bars Heimerle und Meule – 100 Grams of Fine Gold, Divided into 200 Handy Units

  • Investment goal: With gold bars you protect your wealth extremely effectively against the creeping devaluation of money.
  • Value preservation: These minted bars are a flawless store of value that safeguards and grows the real substance of your savings.
  • Protection: Especially in times of inflation, recession and rampant government debt, gold puts your wealth on solid ground.
  • Complement: Anyone who also relies on gold's little brother can fend off rising prices just as effectively with silver bars.

100 grams of pure fine gold – but not as a single, indivisible block. Instead, as 200 individual small bars, each with a fine weight of 0.5 grams, each individually protected in an RFID-blocker card from Kettner Edelmetalle. This is precisely where the special appeal of this bundle lies: you acquire a serious amount of gold while retaining full flexibility, because your holding is divided into 200 small portions that can be used individually at any time. The gross weight of the entire package is around 100.1 grams.

Crisis Protection First: Gold That Can Be Divided

When it comes to crisis protection, small denominations show their full strength. A half-gram bar is not a prestige investment, but a practical tool. It offers protection against various crises – both political and economic – and stands ready as a globally recognized medium of exchange when paper money loses trust. Small units of gold and silver are among the most popular products for various emergency situations, at home just as much as abroad. Some of these cards can easily be carried in a wallet while travelling, without attracting attention. That creates a sense of security that needs no explanation.

Gold is real money – for over 6,000 years. It has never had a value of zero, because its value is not based on a promise, but on physical substance.

Inflation Hedge and Value Preservation, Gram by Gram

Fiat money can be printed and multiplied at will by central banks. Gold cannot: supply is scarce and limited, and this is precisely what contributes to its long-term value stability. As an inflation hedge, physical gold preserves your purchasing power when currencies lose substance – which is why central banks themselves hold gold as a reserve. Not without irony: the world's largest gold holders apparently no longer trust their own product, paper money, without reservation. For your value preservation, this means a proven foundation that you can pass on across generations.

Heimerle + Meule – Germany's Oldest Refinery Since 1845

Heimerle + Meule was founded in 1845 in the gold city of Pforzheim and is Germany's oldest active gold and silver refinery. In 2014, it was accredited by the LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) for wholesale trading in gold bars – a seal of quality that opens doors in international precious metals trading. Every gram gold bar from this manufacturer bears the inscription HEIMERLE + MEULE, the designation FINE GOLD 999.9, the traditional bar emblem with the stylized bar caster and the year 1845, as well as the melter-assayer mark. This clear marking makes the goods recognizable, verifiable and easily tradable worldwide.

Brilliant Uncirculated Quality, Protected in the RFID-Blocker Card

All 200 bars in this bundle are new goods in Brilliant Uncirculated condition – a point already explained in detail for the individual items and applicable here to each individual unit. Unlike historical coins, whose condition must be assessed individually, here you receive consistently freshly minted material from current production. The dark-designed card from Kettner Edelmetalle, printed with "Real money, for 6,000 years", securely encases the bar and blocks radio signals – discreet, robust and pleasantly flat for storage.

200 Small Bars or One Large 100 g Bar?

Both paths lead to 100 grams of fine gold, yet they feel completely different. The large bar scores on premium: the larger the unit, the lower the manufacturing and handling costs per gram. However, it is an all-or-nothing piece – anyone needing 5 grams must sell the entire unit. The 200 half-grams, on the other hand, cost more in total premium, but give you divisibility, diversification and freedom of action. You can gift individual cards, hand out small amounts, or spread your holdings across several hiding places. For a crisis scenario, this fineness of denomination is hardly replaceable.

Tax Advantages of Physical Investment Gold

Investment gold is exempt from VAT in Germany. Profits from the sale are generally tax-free if the holding period is at least one year – an aspect that appeals equally to long-term investors and collectors.
