Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim
Gold from the Golden City.
It began with the dust of the workshops.
Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.
The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.
1845
This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.
Inside the works
From scrap to bar.

The scrap
Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

The pour
Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

The bar
At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.
A house that carries on.

1945
In ruins
On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.
1977
The Brötzinger Tal
The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.
2010
Bars for investors
Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.
2014
Good Delivery
On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

Kettner Edelmetalle Edition
Bars by Heimerle + Meule.
The bars in this edition bear the mark of Heimerle + Meule, and our name is on the packaging.
On the bar
What the marks say.
- 999.9
- The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
- 1845
- The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
- melter assayer
- The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
- HEIMERLE + MEULE
- The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.
From dust came a name.
Made to last.
The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

10 x 0.5g Gold Bars Heimerle und Meule (Kettner Edelmetalle) – ten small lifelines for the emergency case
- Investment goal: With these gold bars you protect your wealth exceptionally effectively against the creeping devaluation of money.
- Value preservation: Minted gold bars act as a perfect store of value, preserving the real purchasing power of your savings and carrying it forward through the years.
- Hedging: Especially in times of inflation, recession and ballooning national debt, gold gives you a foundation that no one can multiply at the push of a button.
- Two-part investment goal: In addition, your wealth can be highly effectively shielded against loss of purchasing power with silver bars – the little brother ideally complements the big one.
- Emergency reserve: Ten individual units instead of one block – divisible, inconspicuous, usable at any time.
This bundle contains 10 x 0.5g gold bars Heimerle und Meule (Kettner Edelmetalle) – together 5 grams of fine gold, distributed across ten separate, minted units. Herein lies exactly the appeal. Anyone who owns a single large bar must liquidate everything at once if the need arises. Anyone who has ten half-gram bars at home gives up exactly as much as they currently need. This is not a mere detail, but the core of genuine provisioning.
Why small denominations make the difference in crisis protection
For crisis protection, a simple rule applies: it's not the quantity alone that counts, but the handleability. Small denominations in gold and silver are therefore among the most popular products for very different emergency situations – at home during a power outage, bank closures or currency turbulence, as well as abroad. Half a gram of fine gold is a tangible medium of exchange, recognized worldwide, valuable everywhere, and cannot be switched off by any government.
The credit-card-sized cards can easily be carried in your wallet while travelling, without attracting attention. They sit between your bank card and ID, weigh practically nothing, and yet carry real counter-value. Anyone who has ever experienced how quickly digital payment methods can fail knows how reassuring such a quiet reserve can be. Security here is not created by a promise on paper, but by metal in hand.
Gold is humanity's oldest currency. It has survived empires, revolutions and countless paper currencies – and has never reached a value of zero.
Heimerle + Meule: Germany's oldest refinery
The bars are manufactured by Heimerle + Meule in Pforzheim. The company was founded in 1845 and is considered Germany's oldest gold and silver refinery; since June 3, 2014, its gold bars have been listed on the Good Delivery List of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). This accreditation formally applies to the large trading bars, but it demonstrates the analytical and manufacturing discipline of the entire operation – a signal of trust that buyers in the trade can immediately recognize.
Every gram of gold bar from Pforzheim bears a distinctive signature. The obverse features the lettering HEIMERLE+MEULE, the designation FINE GOLD 999.9, the legendary "foundry man" figure within a circle bearing the year 1845, the weight 0.5g, and the assay mark "melter assayer". Minted, Brilliant Uncirculated, precise: this is exactly how the product arrives to you as new goods.

Inflation hedge and value preservation: gold knows no printing press
Fiat money is printed, gold must be found, mined and refined. This limited supply is the reason why gold has served as an inflation hedge for millennia. When prices rise, paper money loses purchasing power – the precious metal, on the other hand, retains its intrinsic value. It's not without reason that central banks themselves hold enormous gold reserves: they distrust their own product.
Value preservation across generations is the second major point. A gold bar does not rust, does not fade, and needs no service plan. Investment gold is also VAT-free, and under current law, profits from its sale are generally tax-free provided the minimum holding period of one year is observed. Please note: this is general information and does not replace tax advice.
Comparison: 0.5-gram bars, gram bars and CombiBars
Compared to a 1-gram bar, the 0.5-gram unit offers even finer divisibility – ideal if you want to represent truly small amounts in a barter situation. Compared to a CombiBar with predetermined breaking points, this bundle has a tangible advantage: each bar is already fully separated and minted all around, so no broken edges arise that would need explaining upon resale. The price of this flexibility is a higher percentage premium, since manufacturing costs are incurred per piece. Anyone seeking maximum weight efficiency should choose the 100-gram bar; anyone seeking flexibility should choose these ten cards. Many investors simply combine both.
Who this bundle is suitable for
For beginners who want to build up physical silver and gold step by step. For families who want to keep a quiet reserve at home. For collectors who appreciate the Pforzheim foundry man figure. And for anyone looking for ten small gifts of lasting value – for a birth, christening or anniversary. Gold has been shining for millennia, and it will not lose that shine in the future either.
