Molten gold flows from the crucible into an ingot mould

Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim

Gold from the Golden City.

It began with the dust of the workshops.

Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.

The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.

1845

This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.

Inside the works

From scrap to bar.

  1. Old silver, coins and pieces of jewellery slide from a shovel into a glowing crucible

    The scrap

Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

  2. A melter pours molten metal from the crucible, sparks flying

    The pour

Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

  3. Gold and silver bars by Heimerle + Meule on slate

    The bar

At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.

A house that carries on.

  1. 1945

    In ruins

On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.

  2. 1977

    The Brötzinger Tal

The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.

  3. 2010

    Bars for investors

Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.

  4. 2014

    Good Delivery

On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

On the bar

What the marks say.

999.9
The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
1845
The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
melter assayer
The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
HEIMERLE + MEULE
The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.

From dust came a name.

Made to last.

The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

100 x 0.1 g Gold Bars Heimerle + Meule: a hundred small gold reserves for emergencies

  • Investment objective: With gold bars you can protect your wealth very effectively against inflation.
  • Preservation of value: These bars serve as a perfect store of value, safeguarding the real value of your wealth and passing it on across generations.
  • Hedging: Especially in times of inflation, recession and high government debt, you can protect your wealth with gold.
  • Crisis protection as the top priority: a hundred individual units that fit easily into a wallet and can be taken on trips without attracting attention – a discreet means of exchange for emergency situations at home or abroad. Learn more in our crisis protection packages.
  • Hard facts: 100 minted bars of 0.10 g each, fineness 999.9/1,000, total fine weight 10 g, gross weight 10.01 g, each bar 10 x 6 mm, Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) in a coincard, manufacturer Heimerle und Meule, country of origin Germany.

A single large bar in the safe looks impressive – but it cannot be divided in an emergency. This is precisely the problem solved by the bundle of 100 x 0.1 g gold bars from Heimerle and Meule. Instead of one indivisible block, you hold a hundred individual miniature bars in your hands, each securely sealed in its own coincard. Every single one is real gold – small, unobtrusive, and instantly recognizable.

Why small denominations are the core of any crisis preparedness

Small denominations in gold and silver are among the most popular products for protecting against various crises. The reason is simple, and precisely because of that, convincing: anyone who wants to trade needs goods in the right size. Nobody hands over an ounce for a modest purchase. A 0.1 g bar, on the other hand, is a unit that can actually be used.

  • Discretion: A card-sized coincard disappears into a wallet, a passport case, or an inside pocket – safely and without drawing attention.
  • Flexibility: You only give up as much substance as is actually needed. The rest of your reserve remains untouched.
  • Worldwide acceptance: Gold is recognized globally as a currency and is liquid at any time – it can easily be converted into cash.
  • Distributability: A hundred cards can be spread across multiple locations, people, or hiding places. This reduces the risk of total loss.
  • Gift and bridge: As a small token of appreciation for children, grandchildren, or employees, the cards are ideally suited – real money, not a paper promise.

Heimerle and Meule – Pforzheim precision since 1845

Behind these bars stands Germany's oldest gold and silver refinery. Founded in 1845 in the gold city of Pforzheim, Heimerle + Meule today produces minted and cast investment bars at several locations. Since June 2014, the refinery has been accredited by the London Bullion Market Association as an LBMA manufacturer with "Good Delivery" status for its gold bars – a globally recognized seal of quality.

The obverse of each bar features the inscription "HEIMERLE + MEULE", the designation "FINE GOLD 999.9", the weight "0.1 g", and the traditional emblem with the little smelter figure and the year 1845. In addition, there is the "melter assayer" hallmark. All bars are new goods in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, as already explained for the individual items – untouched, with clean edges and flawless shine, protected by the coincard in Kettner design bearing the motto "Real money, for 6,000 years."

Inflation protection, guaranteed

Paper money can be printed, gold cannot. While central banks expand the supply of fiat money at will, the supply of physical gold remains scarce – and this is exactly where the inflation hedge lies. Gold has never had a value of zero in over 6,000 years, because it possesses intrinsic value. It has shone for millennia and will never lose that shine. Tellingly, the world's largest gold holders are the central banks themselves – apparently they no longer trust their own product blindly.

From a tax perspective, investment gold is privileged in Germany: the purchase is exempt from VAT, and profits from the sale are generally tax-free if the holding period of at least one year is observed.

Comparison: 0.1 g bars, gram bars, and silver

Compared to a 1 g bar, the 0.1 g unit clearly scores in terms of divisibility – it is the finest sensible portion available at all. The downside: the smaller the denomination, the higher the premium on the gold price, since minting and packaging costs apply per bar. Anyone buying this bundle is therefore paying for maximum flexibility. For pure wealth accumulation, larger gram bars are more cost-effective; for a crisis reserve, the small unit is unbeatable. As a complement, we recommend silver bars for the lower end of the exchange range – gold is the big brother of small silver, and together the two have always covered the entire price spectrum.

Ten grams of fine gold, spread across a hundred cards: this is not a gimmick, but crisis preparedness lived out in its most practical form.

Shipping is carried out as insured value shipping. Secure the bundle while it is still available – demand for small denominations is traditionally high.
