Molten gold flows from the crucible into an ingot mould

Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim

Gold from the Golden City.

It began with the dust of the workshops.

Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.

The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.

1845

This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.

Inside the works

From scrap to bar.

  1. Old silver, coins and pieces of jewellery slide from a shovel into a glowing crucible

    The scrap

Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

  2. A melter pours molten metal from the crucible, sparks flying

    The pour

Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

  3. Gold and silver bars by Heimerle + Meule on slate

    The bar

At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.

A house that carries on.

  1. 1945

    In ruins

On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.

  2. 1977

    The Brötzinger Tal

The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.

  3. 2010

    Bars for investors

Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.

  4. 2014

    Good Delivery

On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

On the bar

What the marks say.

999.9
The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
1845
The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
melter assayer
The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
HEIMERLE + MEULE
The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.

From dust came a name.

Made to last.

The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

Manufacturer: Heimerle + Meule GmbH, gold and silver refinery, Dennigstraße 16, Pforzheim.

Crisis Provision in Credit Card Format: 25 Minted Bars from Heimerle + Meule

  • Investment goal: With gold bars you protect your wealth exceptionally effectively against the creeping devaluation of money.
  • Value preservation: The 25 minted small bars act as a perfect store of value that secures and grows the real substance of your wealth.
  • Protection: Especially in times of inflation, recession and high government debt, you protect your savings tangibly with gold.
  • Crisis protection: 25 individually packaged units form a divisible reserve for a wide range of emergencies – at home as well as abroad.
  • Inflation hedge: Fine gold cannot be multiplied at the push of a button – paper money can.
  • Complement: Anyone wanting to diversify even further can combine this bundle with silver bars and fend off rising prices on two fronts.

25 bars. 25 cards. Together 2.5 grams of pure 999.9 fine gold – crafted by Heimerle + Meule, Germany's oldest active gold and silver refinery. Each individual bar weighs 0.1 g, measures approximately 10 x 6 mm and comes brand new in its own credit-card-format coin card featuring the Kettner design "Real Money, for 6,000 Years." It's hard to get a tangible asset any smaller than this – and that's exactly the appeal of this bundle.

Why small denominations are worth their weight in gold in an emergency

Those who prepare for crises don't think in kilo bars, but in divisibility. A large bar cannot be cut up – but 25 small units, on the other hand, can be used, given away, exchanged or passed on piece by piece. That's precisely why small denominations in gold and silver are among the most popular products for a variety of emergency situations. The coin cards are flat, sturdy and inconspicuous: they easily fit in a wallet for travel without drawing attention, and find room in any storage box at home.

Gold is recognized as currency worldwide – it needs no electricity, no bank and no signature. As a medium of exchange in times of currency instability, it has been tested since antiquity: even in ancient Egypt it served as a unit of trade, and later the gold standard underpinned the global financial system. A value of zero? Gold has never had that in 6,000 years.

Quality from Pforzheim – minted since 1845

Heimerle + Meule was founded in 1845 in the gold city of Pforzheim and is accredited by the LBMA (Good Delivery). On the top of the bar you'll find the lettering "HEIMERLE + MEULE," the designation "FINE GOLD 999.9," the company logo with the smelter figure and the year 1845, the weight "0.1 g," as well as the assay stamp "melter assayer." This hallmarking makes the item unmistakably identifiable internationally – a solid advantage when it comes to reselling later.

Tax-efficient: buy VAT-free

Investment gold is exempt from VAT. Profits from the sale are generally tax-free, provided the minimum holding period of one year is observed. So you acquire pure substance – without any tax erosion at the time of purchase. The value is always transparently based on the current gold price, and liquidity is available worldwide.

The world's largest holders of gold are the central banks. Those who don't trust their own paper currency buy gold. Private investors may certainly draw the obvious conclusion from this.

Comparison: 0.1 g, 1 g, or silver after all?

Compared to a 1-gram bar, the 0.1 g unit offers the finest conceivable granularity – ideal if you want to split your reserve into many manageable portions. The price per gram is naturally higher for such minuscule formats than for large bars; in return, you gain maximum flexibility and a very low entry threshold. Anyone wanting to build up volume, on the other hand, additionally opts for larger units or for silver as gold's little brother. It's the mix that creates security.

Who this set is made for

For beginners who want to build up substance systematically. For families who want to distribute 25 small values. For collectors who appreciate the coin card look. And above all, for everyone who wants to be prepared before it's necessary. Gold has shone for millennia – and it won't lose its shine. Shipping is carried out as insured value shipping.
