The legend on the edge
The edge of the 100-franc piece bears the raised legend DOMINUS / PROVIDEBIT, three stars before it and ten after.
The 20-franc pieces of Libertas already bore the same edge legend from 1886. Today it stands on the 5-franc piece and on a gold coin by Swissmint from the year 2026.

Dies from the Monnaie de Paris
For the 100-franc piece, the value side of the 10-franc piece was taken over, with 100 instead of 10.
The coin goes back to the President of the Confederation of the time and was meant to be as large as the largest gold coins of its day.
The model is by Fritz Landry of Neuchâtel. For the 20-franc piece, his bronze model of the portrait side measured 130 millimetres. It was struck in Bern: the B stands at the lower edge of the value side.
