The path of the sun
Twelve sections of a year.
Taurus is the second of the twelve sections.
Seen from the Earth, the sun travels once around the sky against the stars over the course of a year, along the ecliptic.
The signs divide this path into twelve equal sections of 30 degrees each, counted from the vernal equinox point, the position of the sun at the start of spring. The constellations of the same names differ in size.
Because the Earth’s axis slowly turns like a spinning top, once in about 26,000 years, the vernal equinox point has moved by about 30 degrees since the Greek Hipparchus. Signs and constellations are therefore offset today by about one constellation.
For more than 2,500 years
In cuneiform, in books, on clocks.
- BabylonThe cuneiform series MUL.APIN, preserved in copies from the 7th century BC onwards, names 17 constellations along the ecliptic.
- PtolemyAround AD 150, Ptolemy gathered more than a thousand stars into 48 constellations in the Almagest. At its core, our system today is his.
- Très Riches HeuresIn the book of hours of the Duke of Berry, now in Chantilly, each month’s picture shows the two zodiac signs of the month at the top.
- PragueThe astronomical clock has stood on the Old Town Hall since 1410, today with calendar, zodiac and clock.

Zodiac sign Taurus 2026, in gold.

The bull stands for strength, steadfastness and a cool sense for real values – qualities that could hardly suit physical gold any better. This small gold coin made of 999.9 fine gold belongs to the popular small-format gold coins and combines an expressive design with what really matters when buying: pure investment gold, whose value is based on the gold price. The substance counts – the astrological design is the personal touch on top.

- Potential for appreciation: the modest mintage number makes this issue a sought-after rarity with collector interest and investor demand
- Highest minting quality: crafted at the top-tier Proof level with mirror-like fields and raised relief
- Material & fineness: 999.9/1,000 fine gold – that is, almost pure gold without any significant admixtures

Small amounts of gold thus add up step by step to a considerable fortune. You can find more strictly limited mintages with low mintage numbers in our collector's coins category.
The design: strength & stability
The obverse shows a muscular bull with lowered head and strikingly curved horns, striding across rocky terrain. A sparkling starry sky frames the scene, beneath which the astrological symbol of Taurus is displayed. The inscription reads "TAURUS • STRENGTH & STABILITY • THE STARS SHOW THE WAY, BUT DESTINY LIES IN YOUR HANDS". The reverse divides the coin's surface into the four elements water, fire, earth and air, with a double-faced sun-moon face at the center, encircled by the line "TWELVE SIGNS • FOUR ELEMENTS • ONE UNIVERSE" as well as the face value of 25 dollars and the fine gold designation "1/200 FINE GOLD 2026". Fittingly, the coincard references the Taurus date range from April 21 to May 20.
Investment gold with a personal touch
The design is the personal touch, the fine gold the actual reason to buy. Gold is a proven store of value for thousands of years, protects against the loss of purchasing power and is traditionally used as a hedge against inflation – a solid inflation hedge and a reliable crisis protection at the same time. Occasions such as a birthday or a christening can be meaningfully combined with this: you're not giving away a fleeting trifle, but genuine investment gold – an asset that retains its intrinsic value even after many years. The low capital outlay makes getting started particularly accessible.
Gold is the oldest currency in the world – it has never had a value of zero and will retain its shine in the future as well.
