Four-leaf clover 2026 in gold, design side with the four-leaf clover

On New Year cards around 1900, the wish was already in the picture: four-leaf clovers, ladybirds, horseshoes. These are the signs our pieces carry in gold and silver. This coin carries two of them: the clover on its design side, the horseshoe on its value side.

The four-leaf clover

Four leaves, where three usually grow.

Clover normally has three leaflets, four only in very rare cases. The Botanic Gardens of the University of Bonn call the four-leaf clover a rare exception.

The disposition lies in the genes, as a plant breeder at the University of Georgia found. Whether the fourth leaf actually grows also depends on light and temperature.

The German dictionary Duden calls it Glücksklee: clover with an exceptionally four-part leaf, regarded as a lucky charm. The dictionary of the Brothers Grimm also lists the four-leaf clover as a Glücksblatt, a leaf of luck.

The lucky clover sold in pots, by the way, is a wood sorrel from southern Mexico that naturally has four leaves. It came to Europe in the 19th century.

“A four-leaf clover is a rarity. Lucky is the person who happens to find one.”
Museum der Kulturen, Basel

On the design side of this coin it is struck in gold.

The horseshoe

Whoever finds one is in luck.

The DWDS, the digital dictionary of the German language, calls the horseshoe a symbol of luck. Its example: hanging a found horseshoe above the door.

“Whoever finds a horseshoe or a piece of one has luck.”
German Dictionary of the Brothers Grimm, 1877

On this coin it encloses the value “25 DOLLARS”.

The design

The sign, struck in metal.

The design side shows the four-leaf clover, above it “1/200 OZ FINE GOLD” and below it the year 2026.

Below the horseshoe the value side reads “Republic of Liberia”.

Luck to give

A wish you keep.

At the turn of the year people give lucky charms. The New Year lucky charms we know today came about in the 19th century.

Many people do not want to throw their lucky charms away or pass them on, for fear the luck might go with them.

Whether lucky charms really bring luck may be left open, writes the Volkskundemuseum Wien. And it names what they are meant to say:

“Whoever gives a lucky charm wants to say: I care about you.”
Volkskundemuseum Wien

A gift for a birth or the new year, for instance: the coin comes in a Coincard.

Gold does not corrode and does not dull. So the wish stays as it was struck.

1/200 oz Gold Four-Leaf Clover 2026 – Strictly Limited Investment Gold in Proof Quality

  • Minting quality: Consummate minting artistry in the highest quality tier Proof – mirror-polished fields meet a three-dimensionally frosted four-leaf clover.
  • Strictly limited: Capped worldwide at a very low mintage of just 5,000 pieces.
  • Growth potential: The strict limitation and sustained demand for fractional fine gold give this edition a noticeable appreciation potential.
  • Rarity: An exceptionally rare collector's coin made of the purest fine gold.
  • Investment purpose: Physically backed fine gold in a small denomination – its value is determined by the precious metal content and thus by the gold price.
  • Design: A magnificent four-leaf clover as a symbol of luck; the value side shows a horseshoe, the face value "25 Dollars", and "Republic of Liberia".
  • Material / Fineness: Finest gold with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 (1/200 oz, approx. 0.16 g), diameter 14.00 mm.
  • Manufacturer: Issued by the traditional German house Kettner Edelmetalle.
  • Country of origin: Issued as official legal tender of the Republic of Liberia.

Small in size, big in impact: the "Four-Leaf Clover 2026" edition brings genuine gold into a particularly handy form. On a mere 14 millimeters, a heart-leaved, four-leaf clover unfolds its full radiance – high-gloss polished, three-dimensionally modeled, and striking set against the deep-dark, frosted background. This creates a small masterpiece of minting artistry among gold coins, whose actual substance, however, is formed by the fine gold content (999.9/1,000).

Despite the charming lucky-charm design, what you are acquiring here is full-fledged investment gold: minted fine gold whose value is directly tied to the gold price. Small units like this one are particularly well suited for building up physical wealth step by step – small amounts of gold add up over the years to a considerable value. And because gold is recognized worldwide as a currency and is highly liquid, the coin can be resold at any time. Anyone wishing to give a genuine gold investment as a gift – for example under the "Good Luck" motto of the accompanying coincard – is not handing over a mere decorative item, but a tangible asset of real substance.

Masterful Minting in Proof Quality

The Proof quality tier is considered the most demanding minting technique of all. Multiply polished dies and blanks create that characteristic contrast between mirror-shiny surfaces and the silky-matte raised relief. With the clover design, this effect comes into its own particularly beautifully: the golden leaves appear to float above the dark background. A floral leaf-and-vine pattern runs around the rim, while the reeded edge provides grip and serves as a security feature. Above the design is the inscription "1/200 OZ FINE GOLD", and below it the year "2026".

Why This Edition Is a True Rarity

With a total mintage of only 5,000 pieces worldwide, the Gold Four-Leaf Clover 2026 ranks among the particularly scarce small-gold mintages of the year. This consistent limitation is the decisive lever: once the mintage is sold out, no further pieces can ever be produced. This scarcity is what creates the appreciation potential that makes small, strictly limited gold editions so sought after by investors. As a physical tangible asset, gold also protects against loss of purchasing power and is traditionally used as an inflation hedge as well as for crisis protection.

Gold is humanity's oldest currency – it has been shining for thousands of years, possesses intrinsic value, and has never been worth zero.
