Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim
Gold from the Golden City.
It began with the dust of the workshops.
Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.
The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.
1845
This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.
Inside the works
From scrap to bar.

The scrap
Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

The pour
Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

The bar
At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.
A house that carries on.

1945
In ruins
On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.
1977
The Brötzinger Tal
The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.
2010
Bars for investors
Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.
2014
Good Delivery
On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

Bar in a card
Gold you can give as a gift.
A small bar of fine gold, firmly set into a card the size of a credit card.
A gift that is not used up: for a birth, a wedding or simply as a thank-you.
On the bar
What the marks say.
- 999.9
- The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
- 1845
- The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
- melter assayer
- The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
- HEIMERLE + MEULE
- The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.
From dust came a name.
Made to last.
The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

Small denomination, big purpose: the entry point into physical gold investment
The 0.5-gram bar is the ideal starter size for investing in real gold with a manageable amount of capital. Those who regularly purchase small amounts build up a considerable precious metal fortune piece by piece over the years. The value of this bar is primarily based on the fine gold it contains and moves in line with the gold price – this fundamentally distinguishes it from a mere gift item. Despite the decorative card design, what you are acquiring here is fully-fledged investment gold: minted fine gold, whose substance is recognized worldwide and can be traded at any time.
Gold is humanity's oldest currency – it has never been worth zero and has outlasted every paper currency.
Why gold is convincing as protection against inflation and crises
Gold has an intrinsic, physical value and is a scarce commodity with limited supply. While central banks can increase fiat money almost at will, gold cannot be printed – a key reason for its long-term value stability. As a proven inflation hedge, this precious metal preserves your purchasing power when paper currencies lose value. At the same time, it serves as a reliable crisis protection in politically and economically uncertain times. It is no coincidence that central banks are among the largest gold holders in the world.
- Globally liquid: Fine gold is recognized around the globe as a means of payment and exchange and can be easily sold on.
- Durable: Gold does not corrode and retains its shine as well as its physical properties over millennia.
- Generational value: Physical gold is suitable for long-term wealth preservation and can be passed down through generations.
- Tax advantage: Investment gold is exempt from VAT in Germany; profits from its sale are generally tax-free if held for at least one year.
Give a genuine gold investment as a gift
Whether for a birth, christening, wedding, or as a way to mark a new year of life: with the Secain® Card, you are not giving a fleeting token of attention, but a lasting asset. The personal touch comes from the appealing card design – the substance comes from the fine gold. This way, a good occasion becomes the starting point for physical gold investment.
The Secain Card compared to other small bars
Compared to loosely delivered small bars, the Secain® Card scores points with its protected, tamper-proof blister packaging including an integrated proof of authenticity – this makes storage and later resale easier. Those looking for a larger amount of fine gold at a lower premium should opt for 1 g or 5 g bars; those wishing to start with a minimal investment or to give a gold investment as a gift are perfectly served by the 0.5 g format. You can conveniently purchase this minted gold bar from Heimerle + Meule online at Kettner Edelmetalle – as brand-new merchandise straight from German manufacturing.
