Molten gold flows from the crucible into an ingot mould

Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim

Gold from the Golden City.

It began with the dust of the workshops.

Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.

The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.

1845

This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.

Inside the works

From scrap to bar.

  1. Old silver, coins and pieces of jewellery slide from a shovel into a glowing crucible

    The scrap

Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

  2. A melter pours molten metal from the crucible, sparks flying

    The pour

Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

  3. Gold and silver bars by Heimerle + Meule on slate

    The bar

At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.

A house that carries on.

  1. 1945

    In ruins

On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.

  2. 1977

    The Brötzinger Tal

The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.

  3. 2010

    Bars for investors

Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.

  4. 2014

    Good Delivery

On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

1g Gold Bar Heimerle und Meule Baptism FineCard

Bar in a card

Gold you can give as a gift.

A small bar of fine gold, firmly set into a card the size of a credit card.

A gift that is not used up: for a birth, a wedding or simply as a thank-you.

On the bar

What the marks say.

999.9
The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
1845
The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
melter assayer
The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
HEIMERLE + MEULE
The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.

From dust came a name.

Made to last.

The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

Manufacturer: Heimerle + Meule GmbH, gold and silver refinery, Dennigstraße 16, Pforzheim.

1g Gold Bar Heimerle und Meule FineCard "Zur Taufe" – Investment Gold with a Personal Touch

With the 1g gold bar Heimerle und Meule in the FineCard "Zur Taufe" (For the Baptism), you acquire genuine, physical fine gold made in Germany. The minted bar of 999.9 fine gold is securely embedded in an artfully designed blister card: a dark background, a warm glow of light and several white doves, along with the inscription "Zur Taufe" in elegant script. As beautiful as the design is, the actual reason for buying is not the design but the gram of pure gold it contains, whose value is directly linked to the gold price.

  • Investment goal: With gram gold bars, you protect your wealth exceptionally effectively against the creeping devaluation of money.
  • Preservation of value: The bar acts as a reliable store of value that preserves the real purchasing power of your savings and secures genuine tangible asset value.
  • Protection: Especially in phases of inflation, recession and high national debt, you stabilize your wealth with physical gold.
  • Crisis protection: Small gold bars are excellent as a handy crisis protection, barter and payment medium in emergencies.

Physical Gold from Germany's Oldest Refinery

Behind this gold bar stands a name with weight: Heimerle + Meule from Pforzheim was founded as early as 1845 and is considered the oldest active gold and silver refinery in Germany. Since 2014, the company has been accredited by the LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) – a globally recognized quality seal that stands for the highest purity and certified manufacturing.

The minted bar shows on the obverse the markings FINE GOLD, 999.9 and 1g, along with the characteristic bar logo featuring the "melter figure" and the year 1845, as well as the "melter assayer" hallmark. With dimensions of approximately 15.0 × 8.7 mm, it is pleasantly compact yet fully substantial. It is delivered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with a certificate of authenticity confirming weight and fineness.

Why Gold Has Proven Itself for Wealth Preservation

Gold is the world's oldest currency and a proven store of value for over 6,000 years – no other means of payment has endured for so long. Gold has an intrinsic, globally recognized value and has historically never been worth zero. It protects against loss of purchasing power and serves as a hedge against currency risks, while central banks themselves are among the largest holders of gold in the world.

Another tangible advantage: physical investment gold is exempt from VAT in Germany, and profits from its sale are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. Gold is also highly liquid and can be quickly converted back into cash anywhere in the world – an important building block for your inflation hedge.

Despite the personal occasion, what you are acquiring here is full-fledged investment gold – minted fine gold whose value is based on the gold price.

FineCard or Classic Bar in a Blister?

The content is identical: a 1-gram bar of 999.9 fine gold from Heimerle + Meule, minted and LBMA-accredited. The difference lies solely in the presentation. While the classic bar sits plainly in a standard blister, the FineCard version is designed with the baptism motif – ideal if you want to present a genuine investment along with a personal message.

Give the Gift of a Gold Investment for a Baptism

For a baptism, give more than a mere present – give genuine investment gold. As an entry point into physical gold investment, the 1-gram bar is the perfect first step: small amounts of gold add up over the years into a considerable fortune and can easily be passed on from generation to generation. In this way, you lay a foundation for a child that grows with the gold price and retains its shine for decades to come.
