The eagle side bears EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT (unity and justice and freedom), the Germania side FÜR DAS DEUTSCHE VATERLAND (for the German fatherland). Together they are the first two lines of the German national anthem.

Eagle side: an eagle in flight against rays, around it EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT, the weight and the fineness
Heligoland, 26 August 1841
“Nothing but sky and sea”
In 1841, Germany was divided into almost 40 separate states. On Heligoland, then British, August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben walked alone on the cliff and wrote the “Song of the Germans”.
For the melody he chose Joseph Haydn’s 1797 setting of “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser” (God save Emperor Francis). Instead of God and emperor, the song was now about a united, free Germany.
He offered the song to his publisher Julius Campe for four louis d’or, that is, for four gold coins. Campe paid before it had even been recited to the end.
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
für das deutsche Vaterland!
Hoffmann von Fallersleben, “Song of the Germans”, third verse: “Unity and justice and freedom for the German fatherland!”
In 1952 Federal President Theodor Heuss and Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer agreed that the third verse would be sung on official occasions. Of the poet, Heuss wrote: “Hoffmann von Fallersleben was a man of black, red and gold.”
In 1991, after reunification, Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker declared the third verse the national anthem in an exchange of letters with Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl. Kohl called “Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit” a “triad”.
The same words appear on the edge of the German 2 euro coin.
Colours for unity and freedom
Where black, red and gold come from is not clearly documented. After 1815 they were traced back to the black uniforms with red piping and gold-coloured buttons of the Lützow Free Corps of 1813.
1832Hambach
Between 20,000 and 30,000 people came to the Hambach Festival, the largest political gathering in Germany up to that time. In the procession, a black, red and gold flag was carried, bearing the words “Deutschlands Wiedergeburt” (Germany’s rebirth).
1848Frankfurt
On 9 March the Federal Diet of the German Confederation in Frankfurt made black, red and gold the colours of the Confederation.
1949Basic Law
With one vote against, the Parliamentary Council chose the colours of the movement for unity and freedom. Article 22 of the Basic Law: “The federal flag shall be black, red and gold.”
The Germania side
Germania with helmet, spear and oak leaves

In 1848, a Germania almost five metres high, attributed to Philipp Veit and his workshop, hung above the speaker’s rostrum of the first German National Assembly in St Paul’s Church in Frankfurt.
She wears a wreath of oak leaves and holds a lance with the black, red and gold banner, while the sun rises behind her. Today the painting is in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg.
The oak leaves, spear and rays on the coin recall this painting.
The 1 DM coin also bore two oak leaves, and today an oak twig appears on the German 1, 2 and 5 cent coins.
The eagle side
The eagle in flight

It spreads its wings wide and stretches its talons forward, while rays run out behind it from the centre of the coin. The plumage is worked down to each individual feather.
As a heraldic animal, the eagle goes back to the beginnings of the Holy Roman Empire; since 1950 the federal coat of arms has shown it in black on a golden-yellow ground. The eagle on this coin is freely designed, in flight rather than within a shield.
The coin in detail

100 coins of 1/10 ounce each
The bundle comes with two blue velvet pouches.

Legend on the eagle side: 1/10 UNZE FEINSILBER 9999, with PERPETUA SECURITAS beside it

ONE DOLLAR on the robe, REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA along the stem of the oak wreath
Kettner Edelmetalle describes the Deutscher Adler as a privately minted series with a foreign face value.
With its words in reverse order, the formula PERPETUA SECURITAS already appeared on Roman coins.
“For a country open to the world and widely respected.”
That is what black, red and gold stand for today, according to the Bundestag.

Imagine this: 100 glittering silver coins, each one a small piece of security, united in a high-quality bundle – that is the Crisis Protection Package 100 x 1/10 oz Silver German Eagle 2026. Anyone who wants to rely on real assets in uncertain times will find here a well thought-out complete package that is hard to beat in terms of divisibility, mobility and value retention.
A Majestic Design with National Symbolic Power
On the obverse, the German Eagle powerfully spreads its wings – every feather finely chiseled, every ray in the background precisely set. The inscription "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (Unity and Justice and Freedom) frames the design and unmistakably connects the coin with German values. On the reverse, Germania rises in full armor, spear in hand, oak leaves on her arm, crowned by an eagle helmet. The inscription "Für das deutsche Vaterland" (For the German Fatherland) and the year of issue 2026 complete the impressive image. This series was minted from the purest silver with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 – a delight for both the eye and the collector's heart.
Why Small Denominations Are So Valuable
Especially in turbulent times, the advantage of small denominations becomes clear: a 1/10 ounce coin can easily be carried in a wallet, hardly attracts attention while traveling, and is excellently suited as a medium of exchange for smaller transactions. Anyone who has ever tried to "break down" a full ounce in an emergency situation knows how to appreciate the charm of this handy size.
- Discreetly portable: 20 mm diameter – fits in any wallet
- Flexibly tradable: ideal for smaller purchases in emergency situations at home or abroad
- Internationally sought-after: fine silver at 999.9/1,000 is recognized worldwide
- Worth collecting: Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality in a sturdy coin capsule

Crisis Protection, Inflation Hedge and Value Preservation in One Package
Silver has been a recognized monetary metal for thousands of years. While paper currencies come and go, the white precious metal has outlasted every single crisis. This is precisely why it is considered a reliable inflation hedge today: when purchasing power declines, physical silver preserves its intrinsic value – supported by industrial demand in electronics, solar and medical technology as well as a limited global supply.
"Those who hold small pieces have the greatest freedom of action in an emergency." – a principle valued by experienced precious metals collectors.
Comparison to Other Denominations
A 1-ounce silver coin is cheaper in terms of premium – no question. But anyone who values flexibility, discretion and divisibility is significantly smarter with 1/10 ounce pieces. Even compared to gold, silver scores with its lower entry price per coin – ideal for gradually building up a solid stockpile.
Tax Advantage for Long-Term Oriented Investors
A clear plus point: profits from the sale of silver are generally tax-free after the one-year holding period has elapsed. This makes this bundle excellently suited for long-term retirement provision – and it can be passed down from generation to generation.
