The leaf side

Three leaves on one stem

A large central leaf with a smaller leaf on either side. Their stems meet at the bottom in a shared base.

Above them is KANADA, the year on the left and right, 20 and 26, and at the bottom 1/50 UNZE 9999 FEINSILBER.

Canada’s coat of arms also bears three maple leaves on one stem, since 1921, first in green and since 1957 in red. There, the sprig stands for all Canadians, according to the country’s heraldic authority.

  • Shared base of the stems

  • Midrib and veins

  • KANADA above the leaves

The tree side

Up the trunk into the crown

REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA with the small coat of arms, and the face value

The other side shows a maple from below, the view running up the trunk into the branches. Behind it are maple leaves, some as silhouettes, some only in outline.

On the left, in large figures, is the face value, 1 DOLLAR, and at the foot of the trunk a small coat of arms of Liberia and REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA.

The issuing country is Liberia, the coin is made in Germany, and the manufacturer is Kettner Edelmetalle. KANADA on the leaf side names the theme of the design.

The version

The ounce in miniature

The 1/50 ounce coin shows the same design as the ounce on both sides, reduced in size and in Proof, with its own weight marking and its own face value.

  • Tarnish protection: These silver coins are uniquely tarnish-protected and permanently retain their brilliance.
  • Handy coin format: 16.50 mm diameter, round blank, clearly defined design field – comfortable to hold, beautiful to display.
  • Material and weight: Silver with a fineness of 999.9/1,000, fine weight 0.62 g, denomination 1/50 oz.
  • Official issue: Face value 1 dollar, country of issue Liberia, year of minting 2026, manufactured in Germany.
  • Securely packaged: Brand new, individually in a coin capsule, delivered via insured value shipping.
  • Tax advantage: After a minimum holding period of one year, profits from private sales are generally tax-free.

Some mintings aim to impress. This one simply convinces. Within 16.50 millimetres, everything that has made the maple leaf theme so popular for decades is condensed: a sculptural leaf design, genuine fine silver and a finish usually reserved for heavyweight collector pieces. The 2026 vintage consistently continues this line – and makes it accessible at a price that won't weigh heavily even when building up a series.

The design: three maple leaves, sculpturally crafted

The obverse shows an arrangement of several maple leaves: one large, dominant leaf at the centre, flanked and complemented by additional leaves. Leaf veins, jagged contours and surface textures are modelled with extraordinary precision; the raised relief makes the composition appear almost three-dimensional. Above it arches the widely spaced lettering "KANADA", with the year of issue to the left and right of the design, split into "20" and "26". Below, the inscription for denomination and fine silver content runs in a semicircle.

The second side is dedicated to a mighty maple tree. Its crown interlocks with the outlines of stylised leaves – accompanied by the national coat of arms, the value and the country designation "REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA". A characteristic feature of both sides is the contrast between the deep, almost black-looking mirrored background and the brightly flashing relief areas. This light-dark effect is achieved exclusively through the Proof quality, for which the dies are hand-polished and the blanks struck individually. Turned within the capsule, the light virtually travels across the leaves.

Why this format is worthwhile for collectors and investors

  • Affordable access to the design world surrounding the Silver Maple Leaf – without any compromise in craftsmanship.
  • Small units remain flexible: easy to pass on, easy to give as a gift, usable as a medium of exchange in times of currency instability.
  • Collectible year after year – allowing a series to grow without major capital investment.
  • Ideal for diversification: many small coins instead of a single large piece.
  • Fits into any coin album and any display case; the surface remains protected within the capsule.

Bullion coin or collector's minting? An honest comparison

The classic 1-ounce Silver Maple Leaf coin has been issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in Canada since 1988 and is considered the benchmark among bullion coins: substantial weight, a consistent Brilliant Uncirculated design, and a close link to material value. This edition deliberately takes a different path. It combines the popular Triple Maple Leaf design with the most elaborate finish a mint has to offer, and is produced in Germany. Those seeking sheer mass turn to the heavy ounces; those who appreciate craftsmanship, design enjoyment and a low unit price have found exactly the right choice here. Within a collection, both worlds complement each other wonderfully – after all, Maple Leaf coins are also available as gold coins and in larger denominations.

Silver: a monetary metal with a history spanning millennia

From antiquity to the modern age, silver has served as currency, as a symbol of wealth and prestige, and as a store of value. Unlike paper money, whose purchasing power rests solely on trust, it possesses intrinsic value. Electronics, solar and medical technology create industrial demand for the raw material, while supply naturally remains limited. Physical silver is durable, globally tradable and highly liquid – a proven inflation hedge and tangible crisis protection that can be passed down through generations. Gold is humanity's oldest currency and has outlasted all others; silver has always accompanied it as a divisible, everyday-practical partner.

Proof is the supreme discipline of coin minting: hand-polished dies, individual striking, a depth of lustre that no mass production can achieve.

Care and storage

Proof surfaces are sensitive to fingerprints. It is therefore best to leave the coin in its capsule. If you do remove it at any point: put on gloves and only touch the edge. The tarnish protection additionally safeguards the surface against discolouration – an advantage that conventional silver issues do not offer. This way, the mirror finish remains preserved even after years in the collector's cabinet.

For beginners, gift-givers and those planning ahead

A gift with lasting value, an affordable entry into fine silver, a building block for the next generation: the 2026 vintage combines artistic design, the highest minting quality and genuine fine silver in a format that is a pleasure to hold.
