Heraeus

Fine silver with the hand from the family’s coat of arms.

Silver bar bearing Heraeus, Feinsilber, the emblem and the weight

A family business headquartered in Hanau. Its roots go back to a pharmacy that the family ran from 1660 onwards.

The emblem

The hand with the roses

The emblem, enlarged from the photo of the one-kilogram silver bar.

Heraeus bars bear a round emblem with the legend HERAEUS EDELMETALLE HANAU. A hand grasps the stems of three roses, with an H beside it.

The hand with the roses comes from the Heraeus family coat of arms, of which the emblem shows only a part. The family chronicle suggests that the apothecary Isaac Heraeus chose the motif in memory of his birthplace, Güstrow.

From the unicorn to the flame

  1. 1668

    “Zum weißen Einhorn”

On the market square of Hanau’s New Town, Isaac Heraeus opens his own pharmacy in a half-timbered house and names it “Zum weißen Einhorn”, the White Unicorn.

  2. 1856

    Germany’s first platinum melt

Platinum is much sought after in jewellery making, but until then it can only be forged and pressed when white-hot. After lengthy experiments, Wilhelm Carl Heraeus melts two kilograms of platinum with an oxyhydrogen blowpipe.

    1768 °C

Platinum does not melt until it reaches this temperature.

  3. 1945

    Destruction and a new beginning

Air raids in 1944 and 1945 almost completely destroy the works in Hanau, and on 19 March 1945 the original pharmacy building as well. After the war, Heraeus at first makes cooking pots, hotplates and immersion heaters. Above the entrance of the original building, rebuilt in 1951 and 1952, a bronze unicorn has recalled the pharmacy ever since.

  4. 2025

    365 years

The family celebrates “365 years of Heraeus”. The company still belongs to the family today.

Heraeus – A Name That Stands for Quality

For over 160 years, the family-owned company Heraeus in Hanau has been producing precious metals of the highest quality. What began as a small pharmacy developed into one of the world's leading precious metals processors. This expertise is reflected in every single bar.

The front of the bar proudly displays the characteristic Heraeus lettering. Below it, the purity designation "Feinsilber 999.0" stands out – a quality promise that is second to none. The circular company emblem featuring the iconic bouquet of roses and the stylised "H" gives the bar its unmistakable identity. The inscription "HERAEUS EDELMETALLE" and "HANAU" underscores the German origin of this premium product.

Why Silver as an Inflation Hedge?

History teaches us an important lesson: while paper money is devalued by inflation, silver retains its intrinsic value. But that is far from all. Silver combines several decisive advantages:

  1. Industrial demand: Electronics, solar technology and medicine increasingly require more silver
  2. Limited availability: Natural deposits are finite
  3. Tax advantages: After a one-year holding period, gains are tax-free
  4. High liquidity: Silver can be traded worldwide without difficulty
  5. Affordable entry point: Significantly cheaper compared to gold

"Silver is the poor man's gold – and the wise investor knows how to appreciate both."

The Perfect Denomination for Beginners and Advanced Investors

At 50 grams, this bar offers an ideal size. Not too small to get lost in a portfolio. Not too large to be inflexible. This denomination allows you to build your wealth step by step and, if needed, to sell in smaller units.

The elegant sealed packaging protects the Brilliant Uncirculated bar from environmental influences and damage. This keeps the flawless, silvery-white surface with its characteristic metallic lustre preserved for years to come. The rounded corners and careful workmanship are testament to German craftsmanship.

More Than Just an Investment – Your Crisis Protection for Uncertain Times

Silver serves not only as protection against inflation. It is also a proven medium of exchange in times of economic turmoil. Many central banks hold silver reserves – a clear sign of confidence in this timeless precious metal. For long-term retirement planning, this bar is an excellent way to pass wealth from generation to generation.

Secure your 50g silver bar from Heraeus now and invest in real values. Made in Germany – for your financial future.
