The emblem
The hand with the roses

Heraeus bars bear a round emblem with the legend HERAEUS EDELMETALLE HANAU. A hand grasps the stems of three roses, with an H beside it.
The hand with the roses comes from the Heraeus family coat of arms, of which the emblem shows only a part. The family chronicle suggests that the apothecary Isaac Heraeus chose the motif in memory of his birthplace, Güstrow.
From the unicorn to the flame
1668
“Zum weißen Einhorn”
On the market square of Hanau’s New Town, Isaac Heraeus opens his own pharmacy in a half-timbered house and names it “Zum weißen Einhorn”, the White Unicorn.
1856
Germany’s first platinum melt
Platinum is much sought after in jewellery making, but until then it can only be forged and pressed when white-hot. After lengthy experiments, Wilhelm Carl Heraeus melts two kilograms of platinum with an oxyhydrogen blowpipe.
1768 °C
Platinum does not melt until it reaches this temperature.
1945
Destruction and a new beginning
Air raids in 1944 and 1945 almost completely destroy the works in Hanau, and on 19 March 1945 the original pharmacy building as well. After the war, Heraeus at first makes cooking pots, hotplates and immersion heaters. Above the entrance of the original building, rebuilt in 1951 and 1952, a bronze unicorn has recalled the pharmacy ever since.
2025
365 years
The family celebrates “365 years of Heraeus”. The company still belongs to the family today.

German Precision Meets Timeless Value Stability
Heraeus, the traditional family business from Hanau near Frankfurt, has been manufacturing precious metal products of the highest quality for over 160 years. This cast silver bar embodies the full expertise of the company. The characteristic cast structure with its concentric grooves and gentle waves tells the story of its creation – from liquid silver to a solidified masterpiece.
On the silver-metallic gleaming surface you will find all the important markings: the manufacturer's name "Heraeus", the designation "Feinsilber" and the fineness specification "999.9". The characteristic Heraeus coat of arms – a hand full of roses, surrounded by the circular inscription "Heraeus Edelmetalle Hanau" – adorns the bar as a quality seal. An individual serial number provides additional security and traceability.
Why This Silver Bar Is Your Perfect Inflation Hedge
In times when paper money continuously loses purchasing power, physical silver offers a proven shield. Unlike fiat currencies, silver possesses an intrinsic value – a value that does not depend on government decisions or central bank policy. For thousands of years, the white precious metal has served as a reliable store of value.
Silver has outlasted every currency in history. It was there before paper money existed – and it will be there when long-forgotten currencies exist only in history books.
The Advantages of the 5kg Format at a Glance
- Optimal price-to-performance ratio: With larger bars, the premium over the market price is significantly lower than with smaller units
- Efficient storage: Compact dimensions of 248 x 71 x 35 mm enable space-saving storage
- Tax advantages: Gains from the sale are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year
- Worldwide tradability: LBMA certification guarantees international recognition
- High liquidity: Silver can be converted into cash at any time without difficulty
More Than Just an Investment – A Piece of Security
This massive silver bar is excellently suited as crisis protection and for diversifying your portfolio. Industrial demand for silver is continuously rising – particularly in forward-looking sectors such as electronics, solar technology and medical technology. This fundamental demand supports the value of the precious metal over the long term.
At the same time, the supply of silver is limited. What is extracted from the earth today is finite. This natural scarcity makes silver a valuable asset for generations. Many investors therefore use physical silver not only for their own retirement provision, but also to pass wealth from generation to generation.
