Red List categories according to BirdLife International.
North America · Bald Eagle
The eagle with the white head
The insecticide DDT had made its eggshells brittle. When it was removed from the list, at least 9,789 breeding pairs lived in the 48 contiguous states.
The largest known Bald Eagle nest was 2.9 metres wide and 6.1 metres high. The oldest known wild bird lived to at least 38 years.
The Bald Eagle appears on coins from Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and on a bar from PAMP. They are joined by eagle designs without a named species: private rounds without a face value from the USA and the Native Americans ounce from Cameroon.
Africa · Odyssey of the Sky
Martial Eagle and Bateleur
The Odyssey of the Sky of the South African Mint began in 2025 with the Bateleur, followed by the Martial Eagle in 2026. Each coin shows its face value as an R before the number, the symbol of the rand.
Australia · Wedge-tailed Eagle
The eagle with the wedge-shaped tail
Its tail is long and wedge-shaped, its legs are feathered down to the toes.
Europe · Spanish Imperial Eagle and Golden Eagle
The return of the Spanish Imperial Eagle
In the 1960s only 30 pairs of the Spanish Imperial Eagle were left; in 2020 there were 530 to 540.

1 Unze Silber World’s Wildlife Weisskopfseeadler teilvergoldet (Auflage: 5.000)
