Cast almost square, with rounded edges and a large round stamp “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER”. The house has carried the name C. Hafner since 1869.

The name

The C. stands for Carl.

In 1869, Carl Hafner carries on the sweepings works under his own name: C. Hafner. A reference from his apprenticeship values him for his “loyalty, honesty, love of work and morality”, in the words of his time.

Today, descendants of Carl Hafner run the house in the fifth generation; since 1995, Birgitta Hafner and her cousin Dr. Philipp Reisert have led it together. As its guiding principle, the house names the honourable merchant.

“We have a good name, but it only stays as good as it stands up to external scrutiny.”
Dr. Philipp Reisert, C.Hafner
  • LBMAOn the Good Delivery List of the London Bullion Market Association since 2013, for gold.
  • RJCCertified by the Responsible Jewellery Council to the Code of Practices and Chain of Custody, first in 2016, valid until 7 April 2028.

The assay

If it enters the house,it is tested.

In 1892 the Carl Dieterle assay office joins the house. The assay laboratory works with docimasy, according to C.Hafner the oldest known method of determining the fineness of gold alloys.

Every delivery is analysed. If it is melted down into a bar, that bar is drilled and the drillings are tested for their precious metal content. For the fire assay, a report from 2025 gives two to three days.

The laboratory is accredited by DAkkS as a testing laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, for determining fine metals in precious metal alloys, and it takes part in international proficiency tests.

The bar

A ch in a crucible.

Cast almost square, with rounded edges. On the front, the bar bears the large round stamp “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER” around the ch in the crucible; as an assay mark, it names C.Hafner as melter and assayer.

On the back are the weight, “Au 999,9” and a six-digit number that the certificate on the card repeats.

C.Hafner calls melting and casting an important part of its DNA as a refinery.

The CertiCard

Once opened,the card shows it.

If the card is opened, the film turns cloudy, and it can no longer be resealed. Since 2015, C.Hafner has packed its bars itself.

C.Hafner supplies this bar in a CertiCard. According to the house, the authenticity and integrity of the packaging can be checked before opening; the certificate states the serial number and confirms the tested purity.

The card bears the seal “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER” and “LBMA Good Delivery Refiner”. The print refers to the house, which is on the Good Delivery List for gold, not to the individual bar.

50 g C.Hafner Gold Bar – A Synonym for Security and Quality

The gold bar from C.Hafner with a fine weight of 50 grams is more than just an investment product; it is an embodiment of stability and reliability. As one of Germany's leading precious metals houses, Kettner Edelmetalle offers you these exquisite bars, which impress not only through their purity but also through their origin and manufacturing process.

Manufacturing and Quality

The company C.Hafner, a renowned manufacturer based in Germany, is known for the excellent quality of its products. These 50 g gold bars are made from 999.9 fine gold and feature a structured surface that gives them a jewelry-like appearance. Each bar is produced from secondary material, i.e. recycled scrap gold, which contributes to sustainability.

Certification and Security

The gold bars bear not only the C.Hafner company logo but also the LBMA seal on the front, which guarantees compliance with internationally recognized standards. On the back, you will find the serial number, which makes each piece unique, as well as additional details on fineness and weight. The bars are packaged in a special security blister – the CertiCard® Security Case – which also serves as a certificate of authenticity while protecting against tampering.

The Advantages of Gold as an Investment

Gold is not only the oldest means of payment in the world, but also a symbol of prosperity and stability. In times of economic uncertainty, gold offers effective inflation hedge and serves as a crisis currency when other forms of investment lose value. It is a precious metal whose stability of value is undisputed – gold has never had a value of zero. As one of the few goods that can be traded tax-free, gold represents an attractive investment alternative.

Dimensions and Details

The dimensions of the bar are 20.2 x 20.2 x 7.8 mm, making it a compact and easily storable asset. The condition of the bars is Brilliant Uncirculated (BU), meaning they arrive to you directly from the manufacturer in pristine condition.

An Investment for Generations

Gold is a safe haven not just for the moment. It also serves as a long-term retirement provision and can be passed down as an asset from generation to generation. The fact that the world's largest gold holders are central banks speaks volumes about the intrinsic value of this precious metal. In uncertain times, when confidence in fiat currencies fluctuates, gold remains a constant.

The Significance of Gold in History

Even in antiquity, gold was used as a medium of trade and a store of value. In ancient Egypt, it served as a unit of measure for trade, and throughout history as a symbol of power and wealth. The Silk Road and the gold standard system are just a few examples that underscore the central role of gold in international trade and economic history.

Conclusion

The 50 g gold bar from C.Hafner is an excellent investment product that combines tradition with modern investment strategies. It offers protection against inflation and economic uncertainties and is a valuable addition to any portfolio. With its stable intrinsic value and high liquidity, gold is the ultimate hedge for your wealth.
