Molten gold flows from the crucible into an ingot mould

Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim

Gold from the Golden City.

It began with the dust of the workshops.

Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.

The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.

1845

This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.

Inside the works

From scrap to bar.

  1. Old silver, coins and pieces of jewellery slide from a shovel into a glowing crucible

    The scrap

Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

  2. A melter pours molten metal from the crucible, sparks flying

    The pour

Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

  3. Gold and silver bars by Heimerle + Meule on slate

    The bar

At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.

A house that carries on.

  1. 1945

    In ruins

On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.

  2. 1977

    The Brötzinger Tal

The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.

  3. 2010

    Bars for investors

Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.

  4. 2014

    Good Delivery

On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

1g Gold Bar Heimerle und Meule Secain Card

Bar in a card

Gold you can give as a gift.

A small bar of fine gold, firmly set into a card the size of a credit card.

A gift that is not used up: for a birth, a wedding or simply as a thank-you.

On the bar

What the marks say.

999.9
The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
1845
The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
melter assayer
The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
HEIMERLE + MEULE
The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.

From dust came a name.

Made to last.

The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

The 1g gold bar in the Secain Card combines the finest investment gold with German craftsmanship. It is manufactured by Heimerle + Meule, Germany's oldest gold and silver refinery. The traditional company was founded in Pforzheim in 1845 and today ranks among the most renowned names in the European precious metals industry. Anyone buying here acquires minted fine gold from a house that has stood for precision and purity for nearly two centuries.

The Bar in Detail

The rectangular bar with its characteristic rounded corners consists of one gram of fine gold with a purity of 999.9. It is stamped with the Heimerle + Meule lettering, the designation FINE GOLD 999.9, the unmistakable company logo featuring the gold caster at the anvil, and the year 1845. Below this are the weight "1g" and the note "melter assayer." An individual serial number makes each specimen uniquely identifiable – a detail that documents authenticity and facilitates resale.

The Secain Card as Packaging

The bar is securely embedded in a credit card-sized blister card. The black-and-gold card features the artistic relief of the gold caster on the front – the trademark of Heimerle + Meule. On the back, you'll find the manufacturer's name, the signature of CEO Georg Steiner, as well as the seal certifying LBMA Good Delivery Refiner status. The certificate of authenticity integrated into the card, complete with certificate number, confirms fineness and origin. Thanks to the sturdy, sealed card, the bar can be stored securely and transported discreetly – it fits comfortably into a wallet.

Why Physical Gold?

The value of this bar is determined primarily by its fine gold content and moves in line with the gold price. Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has served as a proven store of value for over 6,000 years – an asset that has never fallen to zero, because it possesses an intrinsic, globally recognized value. As an inflation hedge, physical gold preserves purchasing power when paper money loses trust. It is not without reason that the world's central banks hold enormous gold reserves. Gold is also highly liquid and can be converted back into cash at any time.

Small amounts of gold add up over the years to a considerable fortune – an entry into physical gold investment that succeeds with just one gram.

Ideal for Getting Started and as a Gift

The small denomination makes this bar the ideal entry point into the world of precious metals. Larger units do offer a lower premium per gram, but the 1-gram bar scores with maximum flexibility: it can be accumulated in fine increments and sold off piece by piece. It also makes a perfect gift for occasions such as christenings, births, or weddings, giving full-fledged investment gold – a genuine asset rather than a mere decorative item. Another advantage: profits from the sale of gold are generally tax-free after a minimum holding period of one year.
