Baby Wolf 2026 – 0.16 g Fine Gold, Calling Out to the Moon

  • Strictly limited: Only 500 pieces of this edition exist worldwide – the mintage is firmly capped.
  • Investment gold at its core: 1/200 ounce of pure gold. The value is primarily based on the fine gold content and moves with the gold price.
  • Perspective: Alongside the material value comes scarcity. The low mintage gives this gold coin additional appreciation potential.
  • Rarity with substance: Unlike a classic collector's coin, the focus here is not the design but the fine gold itself – a true rarity with tangible value.
  • Minting quality: Struck in Proof, the most demanding minting technique, featuring a mirror-like background and finely matte relief.
  • Design: A wolf pup sits on a rock, howling at the sky with closed eyes, framed by fern fronds, forest mushrooms, and dancing oak leaves.
  • Material / Fineness: Fine gold with a purity of 999.9/1,000 – 0.16 g of the precious metal in its purest commercially available form.
  • Manufacturer: Exclusively issued by Kettner Edelmetalle.
  • Country of origin: Germany. The issuing country is the Republic of Liberia, with a face value of 25 dollars.

Sometimes a small format holds a great deal. With the 1/200 oz Gold Baby Wolf 2026, you acquire fully-fledged, physical investment gold: minted fine gold whose value is tied to the gold price. The young wolf gives the coin its character. But its substance is the metal itself – and that's exactly what matters.

500 Pieces – and No More

A very low mintage is the exception when it comes to gold coins. Here, the number of pieces has been fixed at exactly 500. This makes this edition only half the size of the parallel Baby Wolf variant with 1,000 pieces. By comparison: well-known gold coins like the Krugerrand or Maple Leaf are re-minted in large quantities year after year. This limitation makes the little wolf one of the scarcest micro-mintages of the 2026 vintage.

Scarcity, incidentally, has always been the very nature of gold. Supply is limited and cannot be multiplied at will. A strictly limited mintage underscores this characteristic once again.

A Young Wolf Tests Its Voice

The obverse shows a wolf pup sitting upright on a boulder. Head tilted back, muzzle to the sky, mouth open: it howls as if calling its pack for the very first time. The fur looks dense and soft, with even the fine whiskers on the snout clearly visible. The bushy tail curls tightly around the body. Feathery fern fronds rise on either side, small forest mushrooms peek out beneath the rock, and three oak leaves drift through the scene. Upper left shows the face value "25 DOLLARS," while along the lower rim reads "BABY WOLF."

The reverse continues the story. A squirrel balances on an oak branch, waving, while below it a young fox and a wolf gaze up curiously. Acorns, oak leaves, and ferns complete the forest scene. Engraved are the year of issue 2026, the issuing nation "Republic of Liberia," and the inscription "1/200 OZ FINE GOLD 9999." The coin belongs to the "Animals on Land" series.

Proof Quality on 14 Millimeters

Little surface, great depth. On a diameter of just 14.00 mm, the Proof minting unfolds remarkable plasticity: the coin's field shines like a mirror, while the wolf, ferns, and lettering emerge in matte relief. Depending on the light, the field shifts from deep, dark luster to glowing golden yellow. The edge is reeded.

The coin is supplied in a coincard, protected within a round capsule. The front of the card bears the title "The Young Wolf" and depicts a howling pup in the moonlight. On the back, a wolf pack moves through the nighttime forest, accompanied by the motto "In the small rests the greatest strength." There could hardly be a more fitting description for a 1/200 ounce coin.

Gold Investment That Begins With Small Steps

Gold is the oldest currency in the world. Even in ancient Egypt it served as a unit of trade, and for over 6,000 years it has proven itself as a store of value. It has never been worth zero, because it possesses an intrinsic value that does not depend on printing presses. For investors looking to build wealth gradually, micro-denominations like this one offer tangible advantages:

  • Building wealth on a small budget: Small amounts of gold add up over the years to a considerable fortune.
  • Globally recognized: Fine gold is traded internationally and can be sold again at any time.
  • Maximum flexibility: Instead of one large unit, you can sell exactly the amount you need, whenever needed.
  • Tax advantages: Profits from the sale of physical gold are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.
  • Generational value: Gold retains its physical properties permanently and can easily be passed down.

1/200 Ounce in Comparison

Those who start directly with a 1/10 ounce or even a full ounce immediately commit a significantly higher amount. The 1/200 ounce noticeably lowers this threshold. Honestly, with such small denominations the premium per gram is naturally higher than with large bars – minting and processing require just as much effort even on a small surface. In return, you receive an elaborate Proof minting, a strictly limited mintage, and full flexibility when it comes to a later sale. Compared to a plain 1-gram bar, the Baby Wolf also scores with its official face value as legal tender of Liberia. Anyone who already owns micro-mintages such as Baby Elephant or Baby Leopard from the Kettner Edelmetalle program will find this a fitting addition. And anyone who has mainly bought silver so far gets to know its big brother with this coin.

Give the Gift of a Real Gold Investment

A young wolf raising its voice for the first time – a fitting symbol for any new beginning. Give real investment gold as a gift for a birth, christening, or birthday. Despite the personal occasion, the recipient receives fully-fledged investment gold whose value is tied to the gold price. Not just a keepsake, then, but the first building block of a fortune that can grow and be passed down through generations.
