The elephant
The eldest knows the way.
Elephants live in families. A herd usually consists of related females and their young, led by the matriarch, as a rule the oldest and most experienced. She knows where to find food and water. When danger looms, the herd forms a ring, the young in the middle.
In a study published in 2001, researchers used playback experiments to show that the oldest female’s better ability to discriminate can influence the social knowledge of the whole group. Elephants can communicate through deep calls that lie partly below the range of human hearing and carry a long way.
The trunk is nose and upper lip at once. It lifts a log, and just as well a single piece of straw.

The finish
With a privy mark
For coin fairs, the elephant appears with a privy mark, a small sign in the coin’s design: for the World Money Fair in Berlin and for the World’s Fair of Money of the American Numismatic Association.
This coin bears the sign of the World’s Fair of Money, as the image shows.
It bears the fair’s year 2022 and already the 2023 design.
The coin
Design side and value side
The design side bears AFRICAN WILDLIFE at the top and ELEPHANT at the bottom, together with weight and fineness.
The value side shows the coat of arms of Somalia with two leopards holding a shield with a star, together with SOMALI REPUBLIC, the year and the face value.
On this coin, it is 100 Shillings.
