The designs

The pandas from 2020 to 2026

The Panda has been made in gold since 1982 and in silver since 1983, and since 2016 in grams instead of ounces. The designs of 2019, 2021, 2024 and 2025 show a panda mother with her young. Here are the issues we carry.

The panda

At home in the bamboo, high in the mountains.

Giant pandas live in a few mountain ranges in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu, in damp, misty mountain forests with dense bamboo, at an altitude of around 1,500 to 3,000 metres.

Around 99 per cent of their food is bamboo, and a panda spends 10 to 16 hours a day finding and eating it. Its “sixth finger” helps with this: not a finger, but an enlarged bone in the wrist that grips like a thumb.

A panda cub is born pink, hairless and blind. It then weighs 85 to 142 grams and is about the size of a stick of butter. Adult pandas mostly live alone and communicate through scent marks and calls.

Proof, 150 grams

150 grams of silver in proof quality, with a face value of 50 Yuan: a mirror-like field and a matt relief.

Parts of the design shimmer in colour, as the image shows.

Anyone wishing to add a truly magnificent piece to their collection makes an excellent choice with this opulent edition of the famous Panda series. The Silver China Panda from the year of issue 2026 is not simply another coin – it is a numismatic work of art that shines in the premium quality Proof and enchants with a magical iridescent shimmer.

Three Pandas, One Temple of Heaven – the Design Tells a Story

The obverse features an exceptionally endearing scene: three seated pandas, finely detailed down to the smallest tuft of fur. Every line, every shading – a testament to the masterful engraving artistry of the China Mint. The pandas appear so lifelike that one might think they are about to reach for a bamboo stalk.

On the reverse stands the majestic Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This architectural masterpiece from the Ming Dynasty, once the site of imperial harvest ceremonies, traditionally adorns the Panda coins and lends each year of issue a distinctive cultural character. The iridescent effect creates gentle plays of colour on the surface depending on the angle of light – a visual highlight that makes this edition particularly special.

The China Panda series has been among the world's most popular design series since its introduction in 1982 – a new panda design every year, a piece of collecting history every year.

An Impressive 150 Grams of Fine Silver – A Heavyweight of the Collecting World

With a substantial diameter of 70 mm and a fine weight of 150 grams, this edition is among the larger representatives of the Panda family. Silver at this purity of 999/1,000 possesses a magic that captivates every collector – cool, noble, timeless. The face value of 50 Yuan underscores its official status as legal tender of the People's Republic of China.

Why This Edition Should Not Be Missing from Any Collection

  • Impressive large format with 150 g fine silver – a true eye-catcher in any display case
  • Spectacular iridescent effect that creates magical reflections in the light
  • Very low mintage of only 30,000 pieces worldwide

A Coin Series with Cult Status

Compared to other silver coins such as the Maple Leaf or the Vienna Philharmonic, the Panda stands out through one decisive feature: the annually changing design. While other bullion coins display the same image year after year, the China Mint creates a new design for each year of issue – a circumstance that has significantly boosted the collector's value of many older Panda years over time. This 150-gram variant in Proof is a particular speciality that clearly distinguishes itself from the regular Brilliant Uncirculated bullion edition.

Collector's Passion Meets Intrinsic Value

The white precious metal has accompanied humanity for thousands of years. It served as currency for great empires, jewellery for royal households, and a symbol of wealth and prestige. Today it also plays a decisive role in high technology, the solar industry, and medical technology – factors that underpin fundamental demand. A collector's coin as elaborately designed as the Panda 2026 combines this industrial significance with artistic ambition and numismatic desirability.

For passionate collectors who have been following the China Panda series for years, this year of issue is a must-buy. For newcomers, the coin offers a spectacular entry into one of the world's most fascinating design series – a piece that simply impresses with its size, its lustre, and its depth of detail. The enclosed certificate of authenticity documents authenticity, mintage, and fineness beyond any doubt.

Act now while this rarity is still available – with such a strict limitation, treasures like these are often sold out faster than one might expect.
