Gold Clownfish Coin – physical fine gold from the coral reef

Small in format, clear in substance: the Gold Clownfish Coin from the 2024 year of issue combines a vivid underwater design with the enduring value of pure gold. This gold coin is issued by the Republic of Chad with a face value of 3,000 CFA francs, minted by the Swiss traditional house Valcambi. The actual reason to buy lies not in the design but in the fine gold it contains – the coin's value is primarily determined by the gold price. Within our gold coins range, it is therefore a charming entry point into physical gold investment.

  • Design: On the reverse, the clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) glides with its characteristic white bands through a finely engraved reef of stony and soft corals. The coin's rim bears the scientific name "AMPHIPRION OCELLARIS". The fish from "Finding Nemo" is one of the best-known inhabitants of tropical seas – a design with high recognition value from the Sea Creatures series.
  • Material / fineness: Struck from 999/1000 fine gold, i.e. 24-carat pure investment gold. The fine weight is 0.031 g (1/1,000 oz), with a diameter of 16.00 mm.
  • Manufacturer: Produced by Valcambi, one of Switzerland's most renowned mints and refineries.

The obverse: coat of arms of the Republic of Chad

The obverse shows the national coat of arms of Chad, flanked by the inscriptions "RÉPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD" as the issuing country and "3000 FRANCS CFA" as the face value. Additionally, the fineness "999/1000 FINE GOLD" is embossed. The coin is delivered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition on a decorative blister card that picks up the reef design and securely holds the small gold coin in place. Mintage is limited to 50,000 pieces.

Investment gold in small format – wealth preservation step by step

This Clownfish coin is deliberately designed as an investment. Gold has been regarded as a proven store of value for over 6,000 years, is the oldest currency in the world, and thanks to its intrinsic value has never been worth zero. Those who buy in small units build wealth in manageable steps – and small amounts of gold add up to a considerable holding over the years.

  • Wealth preservation: Physical gold serves as an inflation hedge and preserves purchasing power when confidence in paper money declines.
  • Crisis protection: As a globally recognized medium of exchange, gold offers crisis protection against political and economic uncertainty.
  • Liquidity: Gold can be traded and resold worldwide at any time – so your coin remains flexibly convertible into cash.
Despite the playful design, you are acquiring genuine investment gold here – minted fine gold whose value is determined by the gold price.

This makes real investment gold a wonderful gift for personal occasions such as christenings, birthdays, or Christmas: instead of a fleeting present, you give a lasting asset. Profits from the sale of physical gold are also generally tax-free, provided a minimum holding period of one year is observed. Whether as the first building block of a gold investment, an addition to your portfolio, or a legacy for the next generation – the Gold Clownfish Coin combines an extraordinary reef design with the timeless shine and proven substance of the precious metal.
