The constellations in the sky

Twelve constellations, never all at once.

The constellations of the zodiac lie along the ecliptic. You never see them all at once, because the sun outshines some of them, but over the course of the seasons each one appears.

Anyone who watches which stars rise in the east shortly after sunset will see different ones after only a few days. Only after a year does the sun stand in the same place again.

The path of the sun

Twelve sections of a year.

Twelve sections of 30 degrees each, counted from the vernal equinox point.

Seen from the Earth, the sun travels once around the sky against the stars over the course of a year, along the ecliptic.

The signs divide this path into twelve equal sections of 30 degrees each, counted from the vernal equinox point, the position of the sun at the start of spring. The constellations of the same names differ in size.

Because the Earth’s axis slowly turns like a spinning top, once in about 26,000 years, the vernal equinox point has moved by about 30 degrees since the Greek Hipparchus. Signs and constellations are therefore offset today by about one constellation.

  1. BabylonThe cuneiform series MUL.APIN, preserved in copies from the 7th century BC onwards, names 17 constellations along the ecliptic.
  2. PtolemyAround AD 150, Ptolemy gathered more than a thousand stars into 48 constellations in the Almagest. At its core, our system today is his.
  3. Très Riches HeuresIn the book of hours of the Duke of Berry, now in Chantilly, each month’s picture shows the two zodiac signs of the month at the top.

Twelve zodiac signs, twelve stories, one set: The Zodiac Copper Set unites the entire symbolism of the zodiac across twelve Brilliant Uncirculated coins made of pure copper. Anyone who has ever glanced into the sparkling case knows: this is more than metal. This is astrology struck in coin form. As popular collector's coins with very low mintages, this set fits seamlessly into the ranks of coveted collector's treasures.

A Design That Brings the Stars Down to Earth

Take a closer look at the depth of detail: Aries leaps energetically through blazing flames, Taurus braces powerfully against jagged rock, and Gemini nestle together in fine mirror symmetry. Each coin bears its own message along the edge – for Aries, for instance, "Courage & Energy", for Taurus "Strength & Stability". And over it all floats the poetic motto: "The stars point the way, but destiny lies in your hands."

Copper lives. It breathes with time, developing its own unique patina – making every set a personal companion that only grows more beautiful with the years.

Why Copper Is the Ideal Entry-Level Metal

In the USA, the minting of so-called copper rounds has developed into an art form of its own. The variety of designs is immense, and the craftsmanship is impressive. This is exactly where this set comes in: it offers both collectors and newcomers the opportunity to become familiar with the feel, weight, and appearance of genuine coins.

  1. Experience the feel: Each coin weighs a full troy ounce (1 oz) – the set totals 373.2 g of pure copper at 999/1,000 fineness
  2. Collecting with structure: Twelve zodiac signs, neatly presented in a premium case
  3. The joy of building a collection: The perfect start or ideal addition to a copper collection

Technical Details at a Glance

With a diameter of 40.00 mm per coin and Brilliant Uncirculated condition, the set arrives in flawless new condition. The year of issue varies, and the face value is 1 dollar each, though here it is primarily the sentimental and collector's value that counts. And with a mintage of just 499 pieces, that value is considerable.

Why the Limitation Makes All the Difference

While many products flood the market en masse, this set takes a different path. The strict limitation to just a small number of pieces worldwide makes it a true rarity. It is precisely this scarcity that drives the value appreciation potential – because what is rare becomes desirable. Compared to classic copper bars, which usually come plain and unadorned, this set stands out with its artistic depth and thematic coherence.

Whether as a gift for a loved one with a matching zodiac sign or as a showpiece in your own display case – this set combines the fascination of astrology with the timeless beauty of copper. A very rare collector's coin series that should be part of any discerning collection.
