Curated collection
The year of the horse
One animal, many mints, and every piece shows it differently.
A collection usually takes years to grow. This one arrives complete.

Why as a collection
Put together, not hunted down.
Anyone collecting a subject one piece at a time buys whatever happens to be in stock. Older years, small mintages and strikes from other countries turn up later, or never again.
- One common thread
- The pieces were chosen for a subject, not for what happened to be available.
- A subject closed
- Instead of filling gaps over time, the subject stands whole from the first day.
- No hunting needed
- Gathering what lies together here one piece at a time costs time and attention over years.
What the additions in the name mean.
These terms appear in the article names of the collections. They describe how a coin was made.
- Proof
- The most elaborate way of striking. The die is polished, the field of the coin mirrors, the motif stands matt on top of it.
- Antique finish
- The finished strike is treated afterwards until it looks dark and uneven, like a piece that lay in the ground for a long time.
- High relief
- The motif stands noticeably higher above the field than usual. For that the coin passes through the press several times.
- Partial gilding
- A thin layer of gold is applied to parts of a silver coin so that single areas stand out.
Collecting usually takes years.
Here everything is together on day one.
Different mints, different years, different formats. Gathered one by one, that would be the work of many evenings.

Soul of the wide plains – the Year of the Horse in gold and silver
Hardly any animal represents freedom quite like the horse. In the Chinese zodiac it takes seventh place and stands as a symbol of energy, endurance and new beginnings. The collection "Soul of the Wide Plains" captures this spirit. Seven selected mintings for the Year of the Horse 2026, united in a set of gold and silver – from the tiny gold coin to the impressive kilo coin.
Together, the set weighs in at around 1,199 grams of fine weight: just under 1.19 kg of fine silver and almost 13 grams of fine gold. A collector's product, then, that brings genuine material value alongside its beauty.
Seven mintings, one design: the contents at a glance

The centerpiece: the Australian Lunar Series III by the Perth Mint
The Perth Mint has been minting coins in Western Australia since 1899. Its Lunar series in particular have made it famous worldwide. Since 2020, the mint has dedicated a separate issue of the Lunar Series III to each zodiac sign, and in 2026 it is the horse's turn. The design shows a mare galloping through the grassland with her foal. Also featured are the Chinese character for "horse", the inscription "HORSE 2026" and the "P" mint mark. The obverse bears the portrait of King Charles III.
The 1 kg coin has a diameter of 100.90 mm and a face value of 30 Australian dollars. It is a real eye-catcher, as its warm brown tones stand out magnificently against the shining silver. Only 2,000 colored pieces were minted. Complementing it is the ANDA ounce, a colored special edition for the Melbourne Money Expo. Finally, the 1/4 oz gold coin represents the golden side of the series: the same design, purest fine gold, compact format.
Four horses, one circle: the quadrant set
Anyone who loves formats beyond the ordinary will find a highlight here. Four individual 1-ounce coins in Proof quality combine to form a round shape with a square hole in the middle. The model is the ancient Chinese "Ban Liang" coin. Each segment shows a different colored horse, including a palomino mare with her foal. The set was minted by the Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver, is official legal tender of Tuvalu, and is limited to 1,500 pieces.
From the Wild West to Switzerland
The American Lunar Year of the Mustang is the first issue of a new series. It combines the Lunar concept with icons of the United States. It depicts a mustang with a flowing mane in front of the red rocks of the American West, while four more wild horses gallop in the background. The coin was issued by Niue, is presented in color and Proof quality, and has a mintage of only 500 pieces. This makes it the rarest minting in this collection.
Swiss precision is brought by the 5 g gold bar from Argor-Heraeus. A rearing horse is depicted on it, framed by Chinese lanterns and blossom ornaments, beneath the character 馬. Each bar is made of 999.9 fine gold and bears its own serial number. Rounding off the set is the small gold coin from Gabon. Its obverse shows a galloping horse amid flower vines, while the reverse features the Gabonese national coat of arms with its two panthers.
Why a themed set is so appealing
Anyone can collect individual coins. A set like this one, however, tells a story. Five issuing or manufacturing countries, two precious metals, several finishing techniques – all centered around a single design. There's no need for the tedious search for individual pieces.
How does the set compare? Classic bullion silver coins such as the Krugerrand score points with a very low premium over the pure metal value. In return, their mintages are high and their design barely changes. The mintings in this set take the exact opposite approach: low mintages, color, Proof quality, serial numbers. Anyone focused purely on the price per gram will tend to choose bullion. Anyone wanting to combine art and precious metal will find exactly what they're looking for here. You can find a broad overview of further silver coins in our range.
Gold is humanity's oldest currency and has outlasted every paper currency. Silver has accompanied it for millennia as a reliable store of value.
Physical precious metal is considered protection against inflation and a way to preserve wealth across generations. Especially in uncertain times, many people appreciate this. This set combines the enduring value of gold and silver with the joy of collecting. It is just as suitable for one's own display case as it is as a gift for anyone born in the Year of the Horse.
Note on condition and packaging
Depending on the coin, minting quality ranges from Mint State to Proof. Detailed information on condition, packaging and certificates of authenticity can be found in the descriptions of the individual items.
