Leopard and cheetah
One animal, many mints, and every piece shows it differently.
A collection usually takes years to grow. This one arrives complete.

Why as a collection
Put together, not hunted down.
Anyone collecting a subject one piece at a time buys whatever happens to be in stock. Older years, small mintages and strikes from other countries turn up later, or never again.
- One common thread
- The pieces were chosen for a subject, not for what happened to be available.
- A subject closed
- Instead of filling gaps over time, the subject stands whole from the first day.
- No hunting needed
- Gathering what lies together here one piece at a time costs time and attention over years.
What the additions in the name mean.
These terms appear in the article names of the collections. They describe how a coin was made.
- Proof
- The most elaborate way of striking. The die is polished, the field of the coin mirrors, the motif stands matt on top of it.
- Antique finish
- The finished strike is treated afterwards until it looks dark and uneven, like a piece that lay in the ground for a long time.
- High relief
- The motif stands noticeably higher above the field than usual. For that the coin passes through the press several times.
- Partial gilding
- A thin layer of gold is applied to parts of a silver coin so that single areas stand out.
Collecting usually takes years.
Here everything is together on day one.
Different mints, different years, different formats. Gathered one by one, that would be the work of many evenings.

Graceful Hunters: Leopard and Cheetah United in Gold and Silver
Silent, patient, incredibly fast. The leopard and the cheetah are the most elegant hunters of the African savanna, and it is precisely these two big cats to which the Prestige Collection "Graceful Hunters" is dedicated. Ten selected items in gold and silver, five renowned series, mintages from the issue years 2023 to 2026: anyone who loves animal designs will find here a collection that could otherwise only be assembled individually with a great deal of time and effort.
In total, the set contains around 257.16 g of fine metal. A large part of this is made up of high-quality silver coins, topped off by a full ounce of gold. Added to this are strictly limited proof editions, a high-relief coin from the South African Mint, and two small gold coins in miniature format.

Gold: From the Full Ounce to Miniature Format
The centerpiece is the 1 oz Gold Coin African Wildlife Leopard 2026. Since 2018, the leopard has complemented the famous African Wildlife series, which began with the Somalia Elephant. The gold coin is minted by the Bavarian State Mint from 999.9 fine gold, with a face value of 1,000 Shillings. The value side features Somalia's national coat of arms, fittingly also depicting two leopards. Only 1,000 pieces of the 2026 year of issue exist worldwide.
Even more exclusive is the 1/4 oz Gold African Animals Leopard 2025 from the Republic of Liberia (100 Dollars). Only 299 specimens were struck in Proof quality. The design shows a snarling leopard against a deep black mirrored background, framed by African ornamentation. The value side brings together all of the Big Five: elephant, lion, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard. The coin is presented in an elegant case with a numbered plaque that reads:
"Where fear steals the breath, the leopard stays still – and the world holds its own."
The gold ensemble is rounded out by the 0.5 g Leopard from the African Wildlife series (mintage 5,000) and two tiny gems: the Gold Big Five Leopard and the Gold Cheetah Coin with its finely engraved "CHEETAH" portrait. Both are struck in 1/1,000 oz format from pure fine gold. Small in weight, big in impact.
Silver: Big Five, African Wildlife, and True High Relief
A highlight of the collection is the 2 oz Silver Coin African Range Cheetah 2026. With "The African Range," the South African Mint has launched its first high-relief proof series. The designs are based on sculptures by South African artist Dylan Lewis. The debut edition "Survey" depicts the cheetah in an alert, watchful stance. It is the first of five planned hunting phases (Survey, Stalk, Chase, Catch, Repose). Thanks to the raised relief, the design appears almost sculptural. The mintage is limited to 2,000 pieces.
The legendary Big Five series from the South African Mint contributes two items to the set. The double capsule set Big Five II Leopard 2023 in Proof quality (mintage 1,000) plays with a clever design trick: each reverse shows half of a leopard's face. When both coins are placed side by side, the complete portrait emerges. The 1 oz Silver Big Five III Leopard 2026 is the fourth design of the third series. It shows the leopard in full-body depiction on a rock and is delivered in a blister pack.
The 1 oz Silver African Big Five Leopard 2026 from Liberia (20 Dollars) is made of 999.9 fine silver and picks up the dramatic design of the quarter-ounce gold coin. Proof quality, only 1,000 specimens. The set concludes with the 1 oz Leopard Silver from the African Wildlife series 2026 from Somalia, which directly complements the gold ounce. Same series, different material. For collectors, this comparison is especially appealing.
Note on Condition
The collection includes mintages of varying quality, from Brilliant Uncirculated to Proof. Packaging and diameter also differ, ranging from the 16 mm cheetah to the 40 mm silver ounce. For the older year of issue, the Big Five II Leopard from 2023, please refer to the condition details already explained in depth in the respective individual product listings.
Leopard or Cheetah? Why This Set Unites Both
The leopard is a master of camouflage and a powerhouse capable of dragging its prey up trees. The cheetah, by contrast, relies entirely on speed. Two fundamentally different strategies within the same homeland. It is precisely this contrast that makes the collection so compelling.
From a numismatic perspective, too, the pieces complement one another. Editions close to the bullion segment, such as the Somalia Leopard or the Big Five III in Brilliant Uncirculated, offer a large amount of precious metal at a comparatively low premium. The proof editions with tiny mintages between 299 and 2,000 pieces, on the other hand, are specifically aimed at collectors. Anyone focused purely on metal value would be more likely to choose classic bullion coins such as the Krugerrand or Maple Leaf. Anyone seeking rarity, minting artistry, and metal value in one package will find exactly what they're looking for here.
- Variety: five series, multiple issuing countries, two precious metals
- Strictly limited: several editions with only 299 to 2,000 specimens worldwide
- Minting artistry: Proof, High Relief, and the split Big Five portrait
- Substance: around 257 g of fine gold and fine silver as a physical tangible asset
Precious Metal with Character and Permanence
Gold is humanity's oldest currency. It has outlasted kingdoms, paper money systems, and countless crises, preserving its value throughout. Silver has accompanied mankind for just as long as a means of payment and store of value. Both metals are considered by investors and collectors alike to be a proven inflation hedge, offering stability in uncertain times that you can literally hold in your hand.
The Prestige Collection "Graceful Hunters" combines this preservation of value with genuine collector's passion. It is well suited as the foundation of an animal-themed collection, as a complement to the Land Animals series, or as an extraordinary gift. This set tells the story of hunters who have shaped Africa, and of metals made to last for eternity.
