Silver and copper under full sail.Ascension Island.

A cloud forest grows on Green Mountain today, planted by people from the 1840s onwards. The range with the island’s coat of arms comes from the group around Heimerle + Meule, whose story began in Pforzheim in 1845.

Ascension Island Collection – seven pieces in full sail

  • Investment goal: With silver bars you shield your savings remarkably effectively against the creeping devaluation of money.
  • Purchasing power anchor: Physical silver has been considered a proven inflation hedge for centuries – far removed from the printing press and interest rate policy.
  • Denomination: Seven pieces from 1/10 to 1 ounce, perfectly suited for flexible partial sale or exchange.
  • Metal content: 60.65 g fine silver plus 38.87 g copper – together 99.52 g fine weight.
  • Origin: Issuing country Ascension Island, minted by Heimerle + Meule in Pforzheim.

A three-masted ship pushes through the waves of the South Atlantic with billowing sails. This sailing ship runs through all seven pieces of the collection – and yet no two pieces are alike. A round coin, square Square Coins, a minted bar, and two copper strikes: the Ascension Island Collection Silver & Copper bundles the full range of the series into a single package. Anyone who has so far wavered between classic silver coins and compact bar formats simply doesn't need to decide here.

Why silver defends your purchasing power

Money loses value. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, but steadily. Paper currencies rely solely on trust in governments and central banks – silver, by contrast, has an intrinsic value that arises from its physical properties. It cannot be multiplied at the push of a button. Deposits are limited, extraction is laborious, and at the same time photovoltaics, electronics, and medical technology consume ever greater quantities of the white metal. It is precisely this interplay of scarce supply and growing industrial demand that traditionally makes silver a sought-after store of value during periods of rising prices.

There is also a tangible advantage for private investors in Germany: profits from the sale of physical silver are generally tax-free, provided you have held the pieces for at least one year.

Silver was money for thousands of years – from the Greek drachma to the taler. What has endured for so long also deserves a place in your vault today.

Small denominations, big impact in uncertain times

When currencies begin to wobble, the strength of small units becomes apparent. A tenth of an ounce is easier to trade than a kilo bar; silver has always been the metal for everyday small transactions. As crisis protection, this collection therefore plays to its strengths: you can sell individual pieces as needed, without touching the entire holding. Because silver is traded as a commodity worldwide and has high liquidity, it can easily be converted back into cash.

One ship, one coat of arms, one island

On the design side, the three-masted ship plows through choppy seas. On the left, palm trees rise above a hilly coastline, while a seabird flies over the water against towering clouds. The value side of the coins and Square Coins shows the island's coat of arms, held by two green sea turtles. On the minted bar, however, the portrait of King Charles III adorns the reverse.

Ascension Island is a volcanic island in the middle of the South Atlantic and a British Overseas Territory. It received its name in 1503 on Ascension Day. The series is minted by Heimerle + Meule, a traditional firm whose history began in Pforzheim in 1845. An exotic country of issue meets German minting quality – a combination that collectors and investors alike appreciate.

Collection or single piece? An honest comparison

Anyone who looks exclusively at metal weight gets the most material per euro with a single one-ounce coin such as the Maple Leaf or the Krugerrand in silver. Small denominations naturally carry a higher minting cost per gram. In return, you get a flexibility that no single silver piece can offer – from a tenth up to a full ounce. The Square Coins can be stacked to save space, and the minted bar combines the compact bar shape with an official face value.

And the copper? The two copper strikes provide an appealing contrast within the set. The salmon-red metal was the first from which humans crafted tools. With an identical sailing ship design, it complements the series for anyone who wants to own Ascension Island in both metals.

Who the set is worth it for

Beginners benefit from the fact that silver is significantly more affordable than gold while still feeling like a genuine tangible asset. Collectors get the entire variety of shapes in the series all at once. And anyone who wants to deliberately diversify their wealth will find in physical precious metal a building block that exists independently of bank accounts and digital systems.

Gold may be humanity's oldest currency, but silver has always been its loyal companion. It is durable, retains its properties across generations, and is therefore excellently suited for your retirement provision – or as a keepsake that your children will one day hold in their hands.
