Four privy marks, one maple leaf: the Treasured Maple Leaf Collection

A howling wolf. A galloping horse. A bunch of balloons. And to top it off, a loon in pure gold. This collection brings together four Treasured Maple Leaf coins from the Royal Canadian Mint, each with a small privy mark that tells its own story. Together, they add up to far more than the sum of their parts. Three one-ounce silver coins from the 2026 year of issue meet a 1/10 ounce gold coin dated 2027. In total, the set brings 96.41 grams of fine weight in precious metal into your collection.

The Canadian mint created the Treasured series for life's special moments: birthdays, anniversaries, a fresh start. The famous maple leaf design by Walter Ott beneath the word CANADA remains unchanged. What's new is what sits beneath the leaf – a finely struck privy mark that makes each coin unmistakable.

What's included in the collection?

  • 1 oz Silver Treasured Maple Leaf 2026 "Wolf" – privy mark with a howling wolf, mintage of 25,000 pieces
  • 1 oz Silver Treasured Maple Leaf 2026 "Lunar Horse" – privy mark marking the Chinese Year of the Horse, mintage of 25,000 pieces
  • 1 oz Silver Treasured Maple Leaf 2026 "Celebration" – privy mark with balloons, mintage of 25,000 pieces
  • 1/10 oz Gold Treasured Maple Leaf 2027 – privy mark of a loon, mintage of only 5,000 pieces

Wolf, horse and Celebration: three Silver Maple Leaf coins with character

The wolf represents Canada's wilderness, instinct, and the bond within the pack. The horse references the 2026 Lunar year, appealing to everyone who collects the popular motifs of the Chinese zodiac. And the balloons on the Celebration privy mark? They're simply a reason to celebrate.

All three silver coins are struck in 999.9 fine silver, measure 38 mm, and carry a face value of 5 Canadian dollars. The obverse features the portrait of King Charles III, designed by Steven Rosati, along with the 2026 year of issue. Precise radial lines in the coin's field and the Royal Canadian Mint's MINTSHIELD surface treatment are among the security features the Silver Maple Leaf is known for.

The loon in gold – Canada's unofficial national bird

Few birds are as popular in Canada as the loon. Since 1987, it has adorned the Canadian one-dollar coin, affectionately nicknamed the "Loonie" because of it. As a privy mark designed by Steve Hepburn, it now graces the 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf in the 2027 year of issue: 3.11 grams of 999.9 fine gold, 16 mm diameter, reeded edge, face value of 5 dollars. With only 5,000 pieces worldwide, this gold coin is the rarest item in the set.

Why gold and silver together make a convincing case

Gold is humanity's oldest currency. It has outlasted great empires, paper money, and countless currency reforms. Silver has accompanied it as a faithful partner for thousands of years. Combining both metals in a single set means relying on a proven blend of value preservation and flexibility. The result is a piece of inflation and crisis protection that you can actually hold in your hand.

  1. A world-class mint: In 1982, the Royal Canadian Mint set new standards with gold coins of 999.9 fineness and is known for its strict quality controls.
  2. Limited mintages: 25,000 pieces per silver design and 5,000 gold coins – a fraction of what is struck for the regular Maple Leaf.
  3. Two metals, one collection: Three ounces of silver and a tenth of an ounce of gold – compact, easily divisible, and versatile.
  4. Perfect as a gift: a design for every occasion, a set for people who appreciate lasting value.

Treasured or standard? An honest comparison

The regular Maple Leaf is a classic bullion coin with unlimited mintage, traded primarily based on its metal value. The Treasured variants offer exactly the same fineness and weight, enhanced with a limited privy mark. This comes at a price, as the premium is somewhat higher than that of the standard issue. In return, you get coins that clearly stand out from mass-produced products and offer collectors a genuine added appeal. For those who want to own a piece of numismatics alongside pure precious metal, this is a fitting compromise.

Four designs, two precious metals, one mint steeped in tradition: the Treasured Maple Leaf privy mark collection combines the reliability of the Maple Leaf with the joy of collecting.

Whether as the foundation of a privy mark collection, a special gift, or an addition to your precious metals holdings – with this set, you secure a Canadian classic in perhaps its most personal form.
